Portrait of artist Jojemo(United States) Added on Sept. 11, 2009 07:11 Colored pencils
I have only seen this actor perform on the British TV comedy show, The Vicar of Dibley, as Harry Kennedy, the Vicar's love interest (and eventual husband),but I immediately liked him.
Merci beaucoup, Coise.
Muchas gracias, querido amigo.
Thanks, Nihale. I am not yet used to colored pencils, but I am learning more about them, each time I use them. I still feel more comfortable with graphite pencils, but it has been 6 months now that I have been working with them.
Nobody can reach perfection; progression is the most important; you have made a huge progress. I know a proverb which says " perfection is the enemy of beauty"; keep on using colored pencils, you have a beautiful taste of colors and you're very talented
Thank you, Biggs. Don't we all wish that! HH Yes, his looks did captivate my interest rather quickly, while watching him perform on that show. The story was quite unlikely to unfold in real life, like it did on that show, however.
i enjoy british movies, but don't get many here, mostly Mr Beans movies.. i should ask my sister to bring me some good british movies, she stays there and wants to visit me in October... can't wait! Hope you have a great weekend, inspite of the sad Anniversary of 9/11....
I like the British humor in their shows and movies. Thank you, Biggs, for your kind words. I hope you have a great weekend, too. Thank goodness there was no repeat terrorist act of any kind in our country today. Joyce
That would be very nice. My husband is having a cup of Earl Gray tea right now, but this time I opted for a cup of Lipton's Green tea, honey and lemon, instead. Soon we will leave for our daily trip to Midwest City, OK. Ed has been getting radiation treatments for prostate cancer. Today will be his 39th treatment. Only 6 more to go.
Oh yummi, Lipton's Green tea with honey and lemon sounds great too! Oh dear, is Ed keeping up ok with his treatments? Sorry to hear about that, my father-in-law is a prostate cancer surviver and he is better than before! Ed is lucky to also have a great lady like you at his side, i am sure it helps heaps for him to heal! i am thinking of you both!
Thanks, Chantal. However, I did not know that I have developed a style of my own....so soon...but perhaps it is true. All I know is that my style is more like, "slap and dash!" I slap the colors on the paper and then dash off to do something else. I am still trying to slow down and take more time with my drawings.
Thank you for the compliment, Chantel, but I can not take credit for my work. Any talent I may have, has been a surprise gift from God at this late date in my life. I never dreamed I would be drawing portraits of people some day.
better late than never ... I wanted to make the schools of fine arts, but my mother did not. I am 46 years old and my daughters made me take the pencil again .. I'll never be the artist I wanted to be, but making portraits has been a fabulous discovery
My dream was similar to yours. I wanted to attend the Chicago Art Institute when I graduated from High School. Instead, I became a Stewardess, met my husband, and had 5 children. Later, I did attend college briefly in San Antonio, TX, but then we moved, and I never went back. Throughout the years I drew pictures and painted in oils, but never tried portraits, until this year. WOW! This has opened up a new door in my life. Take heart, Chantal. You are still young, compared to me. I have 32 years on you. God willing, there is still time left for you to do a lot of things in Art.
oyce thank you enormously for your encouragement .. but I see that you've had a full life: Stewardess, a husband and 5 children .. What courage! This has not been easy but it is very beautiful .. I have 2 children and I divorce, success and failure, we can not have everything ..
I am truly sorry that your marriage did not work out, Chantal. (I think Chantal is a lovely name.) Yes, I have indeed been blessed. Ed and I celebrated 53 years together on Monday, 14 September.
Thank you very much. I did paint with oils, before I took up this art form back in March. But I only painted scenes and still life, never people's faces. I surprised my family, and myself, when I started doing this.
Well you have the talent or gift I''m a little different in I have drawn all my life but you have the light and dark of depth in your work I teach others and it it is the most difficult thing to teach. also If I was to be cheeky and offer a little advise I would say to be a little more impressionist about details a great french painter called Edgar Degas. he said 'art is not what you see, but what you make others see'! I find art to be both relaxing and Fun the challenge of drawing you own way of seeing someone or the way a simple painting make you feel. Wonderful keep painting and leading the youngsters like myself from example. I was to that faces are maps or plans it was just the way you saw them, that made them clear. Brian brainfree.
Thank you, Brian. I feel this new hobby is a gift from God. I am glad He has lead me to this art form. I am an admirer of many of the artists who gave us Impressionism, but I generally lean toward Realism in art..
One year ago I had cataracts on both eyes I had only 30% vision in my one eye and 10% in the other but I still painted and only on the first day of December 2009 had I completely good vision, have a look at my early work for realism. All done in our wonderful National health Service which is the best in the world FREE at the point of need. God is a great man and has time for us the older generation and also the younger ones. I try to teach youngster how to look at art and make it for themselves. Since painting I love all art weather Abstract, impressionist, realist or photography you’re a very good artist with an open mind. Enjoy and have lots of Fun. Brian, My nickname is brainfree.
I have had cataracts removed from both of my eyes, several years ago. I now draw without eyeglasses. I couldn't use my eyeglasses for drawing, if I wanted to, because they have "transition" lens in them and my halogen lamp makes them darken.
Well do keep an eye out for him, and if you find him, let me know what you think. After all, he is British! I won't add those two extra, insidious words here, but could!! Ha!
Thanks, emano. Yes, he was very good as Harry Kennedy in the Vicar of Dibley. Richard was also very courageous to play that part. It shows he has a good sense of humor. The show's ending (his marriage to the Vicar)would not likely have happened in real life.
