Thank you, I have vusted your gallery and seen your work keep drawing by handed don't be tempted to go over to Digital to early it is just another form of art. The pencil, coloured pencil chlk and brush are the best thing to learn on You have a good eye but need a little advise I will leave a few comments for you when I have time. The secret of good drawing is practice and contrast to be noticed good contrast that's the use of light and dark, you admire my painting above it looks the part mainly because of the dark ghair it helps to frame the work. Try drawing bigger use a measuring device to plan or construct you drawing I still now check all my drawings before painting. Ask questions don't just say great or WOW ask how I for one will tell you. watercolour is very complcated to learn but not after learning good likeness drawing that is my thing great likeness make great paintings. Brian, brainfree

My friend Merleen, I hoped you would comment on this one? what colour is the paper on the bridge of her nose, right hand cheek and down to her chin, it's light or the white paper. I left it clear of paint to show light have a look through and someone even comented on the light. Again thank you for your comments Brian.
Thank you, I hope I have not offended your sister Merleen. I love the both of your styles they are very different and I think I've been to old and boring. Brian.
Thank you, Ok enough I'm just a paint slinger. I have finished one Carl B and I'm about to scan and put it on I've been up early this morning at about 5am so I wanted somethiong to do so I finiched it I like the subjct so I will finish the other I had a look at your drawings of him as not to copy your impressions of him. Brian.
Thank you, I've had a look at your gallery you have very good drawings one little tip from me as a artist of 50 years is not to put the photo of the subject on your work say we were luck enough for Degas to reappear today would he do it. it means the viewer can be distracted from your likeness and instead of saying Yes that's like them they have a reference photo to judge from and it's a bit seaside or commercial. Also I don't write on my work these are not portrait artist's way we leave that to the abstract or modern people. I'm self taught like the other 70% of portrait artist we are judge by the viewers of our work. So if your happy with the likeness then I am. Brian. With my paint do you need a photo to guide you, No why because it's art I learnt a long time ago I was passable at it but I practice everyday Lips eyes new ways of looking at them shadow under painting all skills and techniques no magic no gods gift or talent just hard work like you but I've done it longer. Time. Brian.
