Brian, to me this is your most illustrious creation yet. I think Samuel L Jackson is one of the most interesting subjects to portray - but you, my friend, have excelled beyond my wildest imagination! Bravo!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:       :hi: :cute:

... wouldn't life be boring if we hit gold all the time. We'd soon take it for granted and life would no longer be an interesting challenge. It's those misses that make one want to strive for greatness. Those misses make those gold rushes all the more glorious and brilliant. Well here was a brilliant moment for you. I'm sure you thrilled to bask in the glory of it. Once again ... BRILLIANT! :whip:

 brainfree - 24/09/09, 23:18 reply
I paint for me not for glory, if people like my work. I must admit I am a little pleased as the hobby is about the recogintion of the subject, to be a little in a agreement with you this is a little bit speacial as it's original. :8)

Hey, reflection moment here ... a question I have never stopped to ask myself "why do I draw?" ... I guess it's for the thrill of achieving a look-alike image when it's finally finished. Mmmm ... self-gratification, maybe??? Nah, I guess it's for the joy that it brings me and the final feeling of fulfillment at the finishing post. Mmmmm - I totally crave it if people like my work - it's like the cherry on top ... it's kinda like affirming to me that I can draw. :-? :/ 8-)

Brainfree, you've got some brain!!! It's a masterpiece if i ever saw one!!!!

 brainfree - 30/09/09, 06:53 reply
Thank you, I use paintings to show two main things Light and Dark these show depth and contrast if I had painted this in flesh tone I could not have shown the coldness of his character. Also it was good practice at using light and shadow mono tone colour can be a bitch but it opens the eye to likeness or what makes Sam L Jackson him, Light and Dark and to be noticed contrast, My favourite painter is Frenchman Edgar Degas. he said 'art is not what you see, but what you make others see'! Brian  :8)

O wow, that's BEAUtiful. What kind of paint is it? Aquarel? Sorry if I say something horrible, I don't know much about painting (yet).

 brainfree - 09/11/09, 06:53 reply
Thank you, Watercolour I have many different makes. It is good to ask questions about whatever you see the type of paint is not as important more about the word do I like it I tried with this on not just to capture Sam L. J. but the person he played. My art is about the view and the viewer. brainfree. :8)

Thank you, Yes added to my list, it will take a little time. Because I've been Ill for about 6 weeks I'm a bit behind with my started ones, but I'm taking it easy at the moment because I'm not completely better. I have to have a batch of tests and scans. I'm painting a few Karen Carpenters at this time and also larger work I've tried to show a few but either squeezing them on to a scanner or photographing them. I'm just painting about 1 hour a day as I'm tired all the time. Mind still painting at 5am sometimes, but more about being in pain than being keen. Brian.  :8)
