Mmmmm ... I have to say that " ... if I had been thinking straight" - is a bit harsh!!! Since the focus portrait is now also in sepia, we will never know the true effect. I like both. Whatever, you're a totally gifted artist!
Please don't tell me that my kindest cimments come from a brainless wonder At first I didn't realise exactly what I had done with the sepia trick. I saw it as soon as it went on site. You spotted it right of ( no-one else has mentioned it). A wonder , maybe. Brainless? never
Hey Tom! I completely understand the beauty of a pristine original. But we occasionally used to have pro-illustrators 'fix" work that cost as much as cars, according to art director's judgements and client approvals. It's a very legitimate technique for printing and publishing as you know. Now if it were destined to hang in the Lewis Library ... that's a different story.
I really like the one-off masterpieces people do in which they draw and paint (or print) on the matt itself so that you get this really dressy presentation --- this would be a good candidate for that -- like with a slightly darker or lighter rose/beige frame and Jerry spilling out onto it on 3 sides.
