It takes a lot of nerve to re-draw a Matisse!! And I have a lot of nerve! :¬D Sandy Dennis was a somewhat obscure American actress. She had a great one-trick-pony, stammering style in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe" with Taylor & Burton. I hope you like her anyway....except for those of you who hate such things and may now dial: 1-800-WTF-IZiS

:D :D Hi Breezy! Thanks so much!!  :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   As long as Zac Effron continues to trounce Sir Laurence Olivier, and Miley Cyrus sells a million a day and Paris Hilton gets another gig ... there'll be "no accounting for popular taste!" I knew this would be a big snore for most, but obviously --- I don't care!! :D Except for you dear reader. ;)

I don't know her but I really like this image! Looks sad, pensive or...satisfied? I can't tell exactly what kind of mood is shown - which makes it interesting! Great portrait that 'invites' the viewer to look deeper.      :whip: :whip: :whip: :hi:

Hi John! how are you? I was absent from the site for a while. Anyway, I like very much this portrait! you have a beautiful and unique style! your choice of colors is admirable! congratulations!!                                            :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: but what do you mean by 1-800-WTF-IZiS ?? :-?

 jpoulos2561 - 17/10/09, 16:21 reply
Hi Nihale! We missed you! Where did you go? :) (U don't have to answer that!) :D AND -- thank you so much :hi: :) :whip: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   I liked the color too :ok: :ok:  As to my 'wise guy' 1-800 thing, I seem to upset a few traditionalists here from time to time -- and often I post pieces which are not truly "portraits" the way they do them and think of them. They have written me e-mails about being a pariah and a virtual devil! :D :oO: One said, "I hate you for your purposes!" :-? :-? Soooooo... WTF-IZIS = What the F()ç# is this!? :D :D :D

 Nihale - 17/10/09, 16:55 reply
I'm always here, I was just busy because I was preparing a presentation for my English course... I can't believe they wrote to you such e-mails!! for me art means freedom first! I don't allow myself to judge an artist as good or bad... art should develop and change, artists should always innovate... and it is not an underestimation to traditional art! don't care about them! you should know that there are other ones who are supporting you                  :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:     :hi: :hi: :hi:

Your English is SO admirable!! :hi: :) :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: I'm happy to be able to converse with you. Especially due to your very enlightened opinions and gracious manners. :ok: :ok: And, yeah, I didn't feel bad about my little detractors. While they WERE accomplished in their narrow little milieus, they were also quite insular and really could just do their one trick --- a small B&W pencil drawing for one, an-almost-but-not-quite-good oil painting for another. :D :D Three of them were so distressed over seeing my work that they actually withdrew! :( :( :( At any rate, I DO appreciate the kind indulgence of you and others here!  :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   :hi: :hi:

 Nihale - 17/10/09, 18:43 reply
Thank you John   I write English quite well but I have problems with listening and oral speaking... anyway, I'm glad to be able to speak to you too! :ok: :blowkiss: I'm happy you don't care about them; I like your self-confidence  Have a very happy day! :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi:

 jpoulos2561 - 17/10/09, 20:51 reply
:hi: :) :whip: You have a happy too! I try for California neutral, but here in South Carolina, they think I'm a Connecticut Yankee. In New York City, they think I'm from Alabama. :/ :D I get by with Spanish III, Latin II and French I ... I'm nearly helpless in German and in any language with which the alphabet must change. How many years do/did/will you study English to get so good??!  :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

 Nihale - 18/10/09, 12:21 reply
I have studied English for 5 years at high school and preparatory classes, but only the 2 first ones were serious because of a stupid belief of teachers that scientific students shoudn't pay attention to languages  I heard someday that in US eachone has his one pronounciation... I speak French (well), English (not so bad :/) and Arabic (my mother tong, a semitic language having no relationship with latin ones) I want to improve my English and to learn German then Italian... so many projects but little time and organization!   :toc: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   :hi:

 jpoulos2561 - 18/10/09, 15:50 reply
Very impressive already ... and such ambition! :hi: :) :whip: :whip: :whip: What will be your scientific field? You would have an easy time with American dialects. Although we marvel at the differences among the regions here, they are very small when compared to the great wide world. :) We have it so easy! :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   :hi: :hi:

 Nihale - 18/10/09, 18:38 reply
I'm studying civil engeenering. I have always liked building and urbanism, but I discovered later that I'm more attracted by the artistic side of that field than its technic one :| I hope I'll be able someday to study architecture and design in Europe or USA  it's very developed there... As for English, I've studied British at high school. I don't know which one is easier, British or American. What do think? :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   :cute: :cute: :hi:

 jpoulos2561 - 18/10/09, 21:04 reply
Seeeeeee. I KNEW you were brilliant! Architecture is a noble profession. I don't know anything about Columbia, Princeton, Harvard & Yale (other than they're all Ivy League and good architectural schools) but I do know Cooper Union and UCLA are top programs and both schools ROCK! :hi: :) :whip: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   Oh, 'murican is muuuuch easier. Them Brits use verbs and participles, clauses ... everything. Way too hard! :ok: :ok:

 Nihale - 22/10/09, 21:27 reply
Hi John! excuse me I'm VERY late, I've been very busy this week. Oh, I'm not so brilliant! I'm just dreaming; I have maybe 0.01 percent of chance to be admitted in those prestigious universities :( I don't think they admit Moroccan students. Anyway, thank you very much for giving me all these names of best universities in US :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:  Perhaps American is easier to speak, but while watching an American movie, my ears catch very few words; still have serious problems with listening :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :cute: :cute:

 jpoulos2561 - 22/10/09, 23:21 reply
Aww. :hi: :) :whip:  Stars Portraits means never having to say you're sorry! :D Cooper Union bases acceptance 80% on the portfolio and has reasonable tuition fees. :ok: :ok: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:   UCLA rates are down ... a few months and you'd be speaking 'Valley Girl' with the best of them! :D :D :hi: :hi:The Ivy League takes everyone with academic merit, talent & a half-million dollars. :(

 Nihale - 23/10/09, 00:44 reply
Thank you John! I'll need to search for more information about these universities (but I don't have a half-million dollars ) :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:    :cute: :hi:
