Hi Stan I am really beginning to get the hang of using all the elements in the portrait. I use graphite powder, lighter fluid to make washes it does not mar the paper which is bristol smooth and I also use charcoal and some watercolor black paint to give me the deep darks now. I always was afraid of the dark shades but I think it is coming along better now. Thanks for taking the time to write!!!
I hope to get the main characters. Only a few more I want to do Sulu and maybe that blond girl with the basket weave hair not sure though. Have a great week ahead and keep creating I love you work!!!
Oh thanks Marino I am now just letting myself go with the flow. I have thrown out all the stops. I am using graphite powder, lighter fluid for washes with the powder and using charcoal, watercolor for the darks and just getting them down to about a half hour finishing time now. Love the spontanuity of this technique.
Thanks Shahin any new venture is a challenge and since I know nothing about layers it is urking me to no end. I will be sending you more lay outs as we work on them. The boss really wants a promotional thing I was concentrating on a commerative piece. There is a big differience. He also wants a verticle format. So that will change everything I have never done a mural especially in a verticle, can't even think like that. Oh well I guess what the boss wants the boss gets!!!
Thanks so much Shahin if I ever get the initial elements straight and in kind of a format I will send them along to you to put them together for us. I am going to read the Photoshop2 book while off work. Still trying to work and have dropped back on drawing for the present. Will be doing more later.
Thanks ajaa I am taking out all the stops and using everything here. I started with graphite powder on the background then used the lighter fluid to darken the washes for the hair and dark values. Then I used pencil for shading the face and finally I used charcoal to get even darker values I am pleased that it looks like Chekov!!!
Hi Sellia just working on reducing my production time. With this one I used about all the materials I could think of . Graphite powder for the large areas of gray, then used lighter fluid for soft washes. Some watercolor black with watercolor bursh, and some charcoal to darken certain areas. Just took out the entire arsenal of short cuts. I am happy to get this down to about a half an hour.Spontanuity is what I am trying to achieve!!!
