I am pleased that you like this portrait, Amant. However, it was the one I did before this one, that of Carrie Underwood, which I dedicated to you. I realized that I fell short of your skills, when I drew Carrie. I should have developed it more, but I am still too timid with pastels to turn it into the kind of spectacular portrait that you would have drawn.  :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :hi:

Oh thank you so much my dear jojemo , pencil , oil ,pastels ,they are all means to give us the kinds of fabulous art .. art does not live without a pencil, so it does not live without pastels. this diversity .. .. for technical, it gives a nice taste for drawing .. congratulations on your superb pencil ... :ok: :ok:   :cute: :cute:   :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

Hi Joyce ! what a beautiful portrait ! I like her very much in the Hitchcock movie VERTIGO... one of the most famous charachters she played on the screen !      :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

Thanks, Didier. Yes, Kim's role in Vertigo as the wealthy, demented Madeleine is vastly different than her role as the "good witch" in Bell, Book, and Candle. The first, is a serious role, whereas the latter is a bit of fluff entertainment. Interestingly, James Stewart is Kim's co-star in both movies. Not only did I miss Kim, when she retired from making movies, but I am fond of Siamese cats. We have had two of them as pets. Now, two of our daughters each have a Siamese cat.  :blowkiss: :blowkiss:  :hi: :cute:

siamese are among the most beautiful cats on earth. Your drawing is a perfect capture of this feline. My mother had a "chartreux" (I don't know the english translation) who is also a very pretty cat, but he died 2 years ago. She was very sad. :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

I understand your mother's grief. I have a large book about cats, and I checked out "chartreux" in it. They have coats of lovely silver-gray. Very pretty cats! We had both cats and dogs as pets in years past, when our children were young. Both were fine pets. Having five children, though, I tended to favor the cats, as they were less "work" and not as "needy" as some of the dogs. :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :hi: :hi: :cute:

Did you catch a cold??we are a lot of cold (not flu, just cold) because the weather is still changing in France: one day sun, one day rain, one day wind!!I hate the winter!!Stay at home!  :ok: :ok:  :blowkiss:

I doubt it is the flu, as both Ed and I get flu shots every year. More likely it is a cold with sinus complications. When I was a child, my colds usually turned into Bronchitis. Our weather has been very changeable lately, also. Don't worry about my going leaving our house. Presently, I do not feel like going anywhere. :| :( |( :blowkiss: :hi: :cute:

It is not like getting half a day off from work, when you are pinned down to your house and can not go anywhere. I hope all went well, and they won't have to come back. I am still, as they say, "under the weather." Not feeling much better. Usually, when I get one of these sick spells, it hangs on for quite a while. :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :hi: :cute:

Thank you, Aaron. I enjoyed doing this one, even though I wasn't sure how it would turn out. I have never drawn one like this before, using a Kuratake .05 pen (from a set of 5 in their Millennium collection) filled with black ink for emphasis in places, then filling in with black pastel and several shades of gray. I drew it on a sheet of 80 lb. (180 g /m) Strathmore pastel paper. I chose a sheet that was nearest to white for this drawing. It was one on a pad of 24 sheets in assorted colors. Thanks, John. Glad I was able to take you back a few years. I miss Kim Novak on the screen. I liked her. I guess she is happy just being retired on a ranch, married to a vet and raising horses. Well she is entitled to a private life. I hope she's very happy.  :blowkiss: :hi: :cute:

Thanks Joane. I loved Kim Novak's film work, also. I guess she is happily married to a veterinarian and lives on a ranch, raising horses now. I don't blame her for leaving the artificial life in Hollywood, and finding happiness elsewhere. She left us with some good movies, at least.   :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :hi:

Thank you. This is a relatively early drawing; an experiment with ink and pastel pencils. I was in my second year of drawing portraits when I drew this one, having begun in March of 2009 at age 78. I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did, as I am not confident when working with ink. It is so unforgiving.  :blowkiss: :blowkiss:
