Thank you very much :). Colors are my favorite medium of expression which is why I often use colored pencils:). They can unearth so much depth hidden in a given object :).

I agree, I use prismacolour pencils, not done many portraits yet though.

Prismacolor pencils...they are so enticing :).I need to buy them to try them out myself :). I'm looking forward to seeing your portraits exectured in prismacolor pencils :).

The only problem is that they break very easily when you sharpen them and they aren't cheap. I think I will buy some other brands to try also.

Well, all the good stuff I wanted to buy turned out to be far from cheap. I did not know that prismacolor pencils are so breakable - this can make your work very tedious at times. Which brand are you currently using?

I'm back to prismacolor. I use Derwent sometimes, but the colour isn't as strong as prismacolor . I even bought some Crayola to see what they were like, but again ,similar thing,. Faber castell are meant to be good but expensive. I might try Lyra skin tone pencils, they've been recommended in coloured pencil magazine.

I don't know the first two brands you mentioned, but I will see what they have anyway. Faber Castell - yes, they are expensive. So is the stuff from Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth (graphite and colored pencils) and I am pleased with the effect. This brand, however, is far from being cheap either. When it comes to Lyra, I used only crayons when I was a little kid. Since then, I haven't bought anything from that company although they had pretty good things.

Thank you very much. I wished to celebrate his memory especially now, in November, when so many ravens have migrated to the Czech Republic to spend winter here. This makes me feel the multilayered aura of the myth revolving around James O'Barr's comic books and the movie with Brandon Lee. Out of all the movies shot on the basis of the depressing story, the one with the sadly deceased Brandon is the best.

yes, it is melancholic and a bit scaring...anyway I like the way you use colours to make so 'alive' portraits and to mix colours in the background! I don't know how to express it but it's a nice sensation     :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :magic:

Thank you very much for your enlightening comment :). The Crow was supposed to be a scary character ( at least to those who put the life of innocent Eric Draven to death). Yet, when I finished the work, I realized that element of fear had been obnubilated by some sort of 'dark' sympathy I harbored for the protagonist. This made him meeker than i thought. Moreover, I just love to make my characters alive - even those who have been raised from the dead :). Mixing colors helps me a lot in this task :). Once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me :).

it's my pleasure to talk with you :) I didn't see The Crow but I like these kind of characters, halfway between light and shadow... it's like your art and it's because I like it.. in darkening you mantain a sort of sweetness! I'd like to learn to use colours to express me this way...so I'm experimenting with colours  :hi:

The pleasure is mutual :). The Crow is a very specific movie which commixes love with vengence, and the light with darkness. This enables me to capture both qualities - a sort of "darkening" of the character and the sweetness that accompanies the process of creation ( thank you for pinpointing this quality to me :) ). Each person expresses a character in a completely different way as our capabilites and feelings associated with that particular person differ as well. It's good that you experiment with colors as this would allow you to find the things you like in particular, and focus on them. At that point, you will start developing your style consciously. Judging by the works I have seen in your profile, I believe, that you have already started doing that :). Keep going :).

yes, I know the story beyond the Crow, I think love and revenge are stories that are Always current...about creatures of light and 'darkness' I'm working on a portrait of Harry Potter in a very obscure prospective.. hope you'll see it. Thank you for seeing my artistic evolution.. in art, like in life, I'm passing different phases, I don't know if at the end I'll find a personal style hope to learn to express myself with many tools... anyway in the actual phase I'm 'addicted' to drawing  thanks for incouraging :hi: :hi:

I am looking forward to seeing this Harry Potter portrait when it appears on Star Portraits! The characters oscillating between good and evil give an enormous potential for self-expression :). I am eager to see your rendition of this character :). Good luck on developing your style! :).
