Hi Raffaela!!! Great pencil portrait again. It is nice to come back to simple pencil potraits like this one. I am sorry I've been out several days without visiting the site... I hope I will have more spare time in a week

thanks Manuel! I did it during my holidays on the lake.. I couldn't bring all coloured pencils , but I didn't miss to bring black pencils... so it was a restfull work...I make to home only the background with the touch of red.. I still have difficulty to understand if a portrait is better with or without coulouring the background... what do you think?

At the end of the day, I think portraits are better when doing the background. A completely blank background gives to me the impression of unfinished work... but perhaps this is just a personal view

yes, I do think the same... you have a personal style to complete background with details that is really realistic....and I think it is more complex, I'm used to make a background only ... smoked coloured....

Doing backgrounds help me to draw things that are not only portraits... I only get "inspired" by portraits, but I am feeling happy to be able of drawing other things too

that's why I mean youare a complet artist... I begun with 'only faces'.... i find faces are very attractive and expressive... then I tried to learn some more. I'm now aimed to learn how to do landscapes... maybe with seaside

Do you plan drawing landscapes then? It will be great to see them. Now, we can use Deviantart for sharing something more than portraits

I didn't make yet.. I think at the beginning I only experiment with colours, I don't think I'll be able to do something good enough.. anyway pastels seems to be so suitable... Ps nice to see you in DA, you make me feel at 'home'...
