I have to ask Paulb, is this a mortuary photo. This is no reflection on your high standard of drawing. It just rings a bell. I would love to know.

thank you Tom. No this is not a mortuary picture,I can understand how you see this, particularly with her eyes closed. I based it on a picture of a young Marilyn when she was known as Norms Jean, wearing a bathing robe on the beach

Thaks for your answer Paulb, I'm so glad you don't seem offended. I see it now, and I must say she really looks too young to be in the mortuary !!! Sorry for my big mistake. If you turn the drawing so i looks like she is lying on her back, you can see where I made my error. Sorry again. Super artwork

that is OK just looked at the mortuary photo, and appreciate your comments, very kind of you that you enjoyed my art work. Your art work is excellent and makes me realise that I must use more colour, even though I am a bit colour blind :) :)

I do prefer to work in shades of sepia, but from time to time I get the acrylics out and go a bit mad with colour.    but I eventually calm down to sepia or even graphic pencil. Variety is the spice of life, or so they say. Cheers Paulb

I usually use Faber Castell and they have a range of browns , from Burnt Sienna ( which to most people looks like Sepia ! ) right up to Dark Sepia ,which is almost Black. I have just bought a Strathmore sketch pad called "Toned Tan" which I think should be great with browns and also for highlights. Of course I haven't tried it yet, as I have too much on my plate at present. But I am looking forward to it. :hi:

Did I say I have not used it yet ?? They also do a Toned Grey which would be great for black pencil with white highlights. I will get around to trying the pad soon, but at present I am getting some stuff together for a local exhibition. Not a big show, but I usually do reasonably well. :hi:
