thanks although i did try using poster paints along with watercolour pencils, this time, to give the hair more depth and darkness

May I ask you what colour you use for the skin? I'd like to try portraits with coloured pencils but I don't know what pencils to buy

I use a standard set of watercolour pencils. depending on the skin type i usually start with a light pink, with a touch of orange, then for the shading either a dark brown or aubergine, and slowly build it up.. hope this helps you :)

I think you should always had colour to your work, it makes it look even better than what it already is in pencil!

thank you, i do enjoy working with pencil more than watercolour or acrylics but occasionally i like the challenge of blending the colours too.
