From Pine Bluff, Arkansas (U.S.A.), Peggy Shannon (originally called Winona Sammon) joined the Ziegfeld Follies after a visit to New York. She then began performing on Broadway, which led to a contract with Paramount Pictures. Almost immediately after arriving in Hollywood, Peggy was called upon to replace Clara Bow (who had suffered a nervous breakdown) prior to shooting the film 'The Secret Call'. Hailed as Hollywood's next "It girl", Peggy's ultimate fate - the downward spiral of both her health and career, in hindsight (and all things considered) is perhaps unsurprising. Still, her star shone so very brightly, if only for a relatively short time.

Just from her photos it was apparent what a brightly burning flame she was although, as you know, it can be difficult to find reliable information going back that far :oO:

Danke! I find great inspiration (and sometimes sadness) learning about the lives of the hopeful, yet vulnerable young women who, so often it seems, were unable to find lasting fulfillment through their quest for stardom. :hi:

It's a wonderful photograph even in black and white ... I really didn't add much to it that wasn't already there (except color!) :whip:

I can have lots of fun with improvising the hues, but I try to find the right eye color, which can be rather difficult as one goes further back in time (.. and especially to the more obscure subjects) :hi:

Right eye colours for b&m movie stars aren't too tricky if colour pics also exist. Skin tones or eye and sometimes even hair colour in old stars can be applied to portraits of their younger selves. The real problem is clothes or outfits. My hardest challenge was Buster Keaton's deep sea diver outfit in The Navigator. I failed to find the exact same model online and based my colours on what looked most like it, which took a lot of online research. :ok: :hi:

Quite so, as you say, good to have the online resources - the research for your Keaton's diver suit seems to have paid off in the creation of a memorable piece ... pity some of my subjects didn't make it to see color photography! :oO: :hi:
