From left to right: Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren playing poker and drinking cocktails. This was inspired by the work of Chris Consani. Go buy is posters!

It's meant to have a little story... Audrey has a good hand and is being focused on winning, which is why she has the most chips. Rita and Marilyn are poking fun at Sophia, because she's doing miserably. Which is ironic, because apparently she was good at poker. Rita is drinking a strawberry margarita because one of the theories of how the margarita was invented is that is was made for her and named after her. (I learnt a lot about cocktails while painting this ).

When I was halfway through this, I thought there were a million mistakes. Now that it's finished I think there's like a billion! I know things like the table is too bare; the glasses, poker chips, and cards are all different sizes; they look nothing like who they're meant to; and the shadows don't match the lighting, but I really don't care. I'm so glad I've just finished the goddamn painting. For all the preparatory work I did, it should be better. Despite all the flaws, this is probably my best painting on canvas, though I know it doesn't compare to Consani or even your average deviant's ability.

As it's somewhere between A3 and A2 in size, I had to scan it in sections, so it doesn't really match up because it was wobbling when it got scanned And things are in different contrast, and altogether it's way more contrasty than the actual painting (I realised the high contrast was on after I scanned one section, and that took so long I couldn't be bothered to scan it again!). And things havent been accurately scanned, in particularly Rita Hayworth looks much better in the original.
