He was a great comedian who at the time was frowned on for being course. It was more about the people watching, than him. He thought he was talentless and like a lot of famous comedians a very unhappy man. He died a poor man compared with today’s comedians. He was in the tradition of British saucy post cards mold, which also died out but are now being sort out for their artistic qualities.

Thank you, if you read my comments on the top, you'll see the portrait meant a lot to me. It's large it fills the paper, I looked for the likeness and at first I painted it without the glasses, just those eyes and cheeky grin but, then after remembering the glasses and painted them in! I used 2 photo’s to look at for reference. I hope my long repy will help you.
