Excellent teacher that well that chooses and it applies the color in their works, the mixture that carries out is really very good and interesting, accompanied by a very own style and the expressive force that gives him its drawings it is admirable. :ok:     :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

Thank you, a tonal study of sun shine. I've done a simular one with blue sky and blue eyes. But it's A3 to big for the scanner I'll do a A4 one and put it on. :) :8)

really very good and how u make such exact sizes of face? can u tell me i mean that how you can draw this portaits at first , untill u use watercolors :)

 brainfree - 03/08/08, 10:58 reply
Thank you, How do I draw the likeness on the painting. That is a very long answer, I could say years of practice, but I think you know that. Practically I have a large Computer monitor and place the photo or photo’s on it to have a reference pose. I place my easel to the side of the screen. I have a A4 sheet of Perspex clear plastic to which I have a cross on it I then transfer the construction lines to the painting. Over the years I started doing this with normal pencils, but then I used w/c pencils and now a brush like the Japanese. First I would lay a wash on the w/c paper say watery purple or light blue I also paint the back ground in as a wash I decide on the style at this point detailed or impressionist this is the important point for me. Then four good layers adding detail as you go the last of these is the blending layer and most important many of my painting are not finished completely as blending is removing the little blemishes and making faces look smooth.

P.s. I hope this will help you. The three things I have gone on about since starting are: My favourite painter is Frenchman Edgar Degas. he said 'art is not what you see, but what you make others see'! and to me art is about originality, technique and likeness and this is attained by the hard work of practice, perseverance and patience. :) :8)

 brainfree - 20/09/08, 20:09 reply

Thank you, quite a popular large poster of him for the Film 'Troy'. If doing a pastiche, I like to make small differences in the style or colour, this was so iconic! I did not to be fiddle with it.  :8)

 steffim - 08/12/08, 23:59 reply
- can i just add that the colours used are amazing (:

 brainfree - 09/12/08, 17:49 reply
Thank you, just normal watercolour only one small interesting thing I used translucent colour lemon yellow and brilliant yellow and normal orange. The trans colours are very light also their very bright and are closer to stain than acrylic, although they are still water soluble. I use anything to get a look, acrylic, gouache Wc and Trans wc. :8)
