Thank you, I'm a little concerned as it looks to much like a photo. I think it's a problems with Iconic poses. :) :8)

Thank you one of the most difficult I've done so far, and that's why I choose it, there were so many parts a w/c pencil layout to start. then acrylic parts the eye, hair, ear, lips, teeth and tongue. Very envolved because there was so much red (rose pink) in the parts the skin tone had to be ajusted to be more red. This and the Audery T were very difficult. So I was very happy with them but they look a little to much like photos next time I'll go more impressionist. :) :8)

Frixo told me there was not worst critic for us than ourselves! He is right : I would have never believed that you could be dissatisfied with one of your paintings

 brainfree - 06/08/08, 15:57 reply
Thank you, I think Frixo is quite right the only thing I would say is that it's not for me to either boast or critique my own work. I can I think make comments, if I have not fulfilled what I wanted to show. I am very satisfied with this painting, but as always I show concern that people may think I cheat in some way. I am a very clever person on a computer and would find it easy to reproduce work Identical to a photograph, so I take great care to be original and fresh with this painting it come very close to being almost Identical to the photo and that upsets me a little. Although I can and have done very good paintings I like to think that they say more than a great reproduction could or can. I have over the years never enjoyed myself so much as on this website it’s great and my Honour as a man is very important to me. :8)

Yeah, I understand but I'm sure you understand that what you are concerned about is probably what a lot of artists would like to achieve there. I understand that you don't want anybody to think that you're cheating. It might not be good at all but I'm glad you know that you're a really talented artist. It's funny because you're looking for a personnal touch on your portraits which make a little difference with the original while keeping the likeness and some day, someone told me that personnal touch was important and that I did not have to bother if my portraits did not totally look like the original, that it was a good thing. So I think the hardest work can be to find the balance between likeness and original touch. A really hard work maybe but, please, be sure that, even if your portraits continue to look like the original photos, a lot of people there will still appreciate your work Hope you'llfind what you're looking for. Can I ask what portrait(s) in your gallery represent the be

the best what you'd like to achieve with all of them and especially what you would have likes to achieve with Calista and Audrey's portraits? Sorry, it was the first time I exceeded the authorized number of letters in a comment there! :D

Thank you, I am someone who likes to show contrast. I had only been on the site a week when someone told me that watercolour was dull and lifeless, talk about red rag to a bull. All art and especially watercolour should be lively, happy, bright show beauty and on the other hand dark, moody, sad, and show life. I loved those old films and photo’s in black and white my imagination filled in the colour in my head like a good book or a Radio play. Black and white is for me also something that should be painted. There again, colour is wonderful, OK I’m coming back to the real world, sometimes I talk a lot of rubbish. Sorry :) :8)

 LisaWP - 06/08/08, 17:05 reply
LOL! No problem! Watercolour is not at all dull and lifeless. I think your work is very vibrant and as 'alive' as I've seen! I'm not a big fan of the old portraits where people sit and pose, I love the ones which show personality. I think your work is brilliant and anyone who says otherwise is wrong LOL!

Thank you, a great complement from an excellent artist as your self. It was the colour of this that made me paint it, the original photo was very good, so I pay homage to the photographer. I just wanted to prove that watercolour is a portrait medium, I hope I did that. :) :8)
