Oh wow Christine! Beautiful,Americana at it's finest here.Shhhh...quiet in the Peanut gallery! I love it! Are you going to do Clarabell and Princess SummerWinterSpringFall?
Unfortunatly I can't fine a good picture of Clarabell on Google if you find one e-mail it to me. I don't recall Princess Summer,Winter, Spring Fall? I do however remember the Flub-a-dub!!!
Hey Chris I am thinking about doing Moochie with the Chimpanzee. It is a good photo and quite a challenge. Another one to think about is The family affair with Buffy Jody and Mrs Beasley.
My parents raised me on howdy Doody, thats how a twenty some-odd knows,Ha!Ha! Yes i will do that for you right now,and the princess was played by the very pretty Judy tyler, probably better known as Elvises love interest in Jailhouse Rock, she died 3 days after filming that back in 1957 unfortunately, will do on the photos!
Oh well your parents did the right thing. You are a splendid young man and I am glad you got to see wholesome and good entertainment as a kid. That helps. My mother died when I was seven years old and these entertainers and T.V. Shows actually gave me my values as an adult. Hope more good moral shows are on the way. Hollywood sometimes gets stuck on the sensational and not the good old American value type shows!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much!I am sorry for your loss, yes the 1950s brought forth a cleaner America, with Lucy,Jackie Gleason, and game shows like Grouchos To Tell The Truth.A fine time for entertainment and you were fortunate to take good values from that era.Today a kid has reality TV wich is far from what truth is,everybody is reaching for 15 minutes and 90% of them have nothing to offer us...the viewers.Sad.
I hope things pick up in the T.V. industry as far as morals go. I am liking the new Kyle X.Y. series. I like science fiction so this is very appealing to me. I used to like Star Treck too it has to be the one with Lenard Nemoy and Captain Kirk though don't quite get into the second generation.
Yes Ricky Nelson is a legend, one of the true greats! It would be great if you did Rick,David, ozzie and Harriet someday like the way you did Little House.
Okay Christine, you will haveto pardon me I am always thinking about characters,I am finishing Lon Chaney Sr. I hope you like it.Literally Christine I have tons of unfinished projects laying around. It's hectic!Ha!Ha!
How are you doing I will be going to see your Lon Chaney next. I just love all your work Chris I am going to compile more of your work for another set of your prints. All who see them love them but that Bat Man and Robin are about my favorite so far.
Thank you so much Christine,i really am a scholar of Pop culture, was raised on this stuff so i get really excited when i see characters you do.thank you for showing and compiling my works,I am humbled by your kindness, and your words of encouragment.
Aside from the sheer technical excellence, this drawing tells a story--it speaks to you! And amen for popular culture that challenges you,..I have no embarrasment about dipping into the past for inspiration whether it be music, tv or film.
Thanks and there will be more old T.V. shows to depict. I am honering the folks who entertained me all my life. Some have passed away but their lasting memories light up the sometimes dark and boring world.
Wow Christine!!! It's beautiful, really well done!
By the way, does anyone know what happened to Roberto (Frixo666)? I don't think he's a member anymore!
You wouldn't notice but their are a few small flaws where the scanner didn't line up the two scans but I guess that is okay!!!! In the original it is perfectly done.
Thanks Lisa I have been trying to incorporate more than just portraits. Happy you like the work. It is a little harder to scan these since they are usually 18x24 so it takes about ten scans and lots of patience to blend them together and a little photo shop knowledge to complete them and to try to get them to look more like the original drawings.
This is so great! Circa 1952 !! A Philco TV as big as a piano with a 13" - nearly round screen and about nine lines of resolution! (It was Princess Summer-Fall-Winter-Spring - based on Tiger Lily.) Let's try to get the hip-hop generation to watch this! They'd definitely "pop a cap" in Buffalo Bob and hang Howdy from the rear view of the Hummer ! Way to go Christine!!!
Yup things back in our younger days were very simple and straight forward. Very good memories and many great times growing up with great morals and good programs.
