I do like it, showing spontaneity you have use the flow of the water well. One side with careffree and the other a little structured wonderful. A tip when painting wet areas have a tissue it you non painting hand then you can stop rus not that there are any in your work another is if doing a one dark colour painting then save the dirty water you wash out you brushes in and wash out only dark colours in that pot then it becomes a shadow pot and you can aply it as shaow on cheeks and othe areas. What you have done here is what I would paint benbeneth a colour painting perhaps a little lighter as a base I would get the under painting right with likeness and tone before adding colour. Great work if it's uyour first then you have to do more just for me. If you need advise then I'm Here waiting to hekhelp and I hope not bore you.

Sorry that it took me so long to answer.. I really appreciate the reply. I've only been painting for about 4 months now, so I am still pretty new at this and tips are always welcome. I do already always have a tussue with me while painting, otherwise things just get to messy. I have tried painting the shadow with the water in my pot after applying dark areas and it's a great tip, it saves paint. thanks What would you recommend for painting portraits, tubes or pans?
OK, different folk different stoke for me both but for a studio tubes and a pocket set of blocks. I apply all mine onto a palette and then use an empty spray water set the type you get with say a toilet or kitchen cleaner then I re-wet my paint, each session. I also have a mixing palette which is pre mixed colour for shin and tones of skin for this pans or blocks would be to difficult. I'm a big believer in using acrylic for part you don't what to mix again say eyebrows or eye lashes and pupils and Iris's. Also a pre made flesh tone is made in gouache watercolour, But if you want the mix it's 1 part lemon, 1part Cadmium Red, to 5 parts white, and add yellow Ochre for shadows. Try when painting after doing a base colour I use light blue or purple very often acrylic paint before doing the eyes first then the lips before even the skin tone. The base colour or undercoat is like your washes on your painting, they act like shadows. I have loads of little tips. Sorry if it's a bit long.
