Yes this is a great actor, interesting choice Brian, looks great!I may do The Vikings,it depends on what kind of ideas I float, but I know you may be interested in seeing this, was watching it again this weekend and it is so impressive, wow! :hi:

Good choice I did many of the actors but I would love to see your take on the film. It's difficult to try to capture a mood of a film I like looking at the posters first to get me in the mood.  :8) :8)

Thank you,I will try my best, and you nailed it,it's all about mood,Kurt Douglas whooo, what a performance in that one,he was cheated Oscar, haha,he played it like Shakespeare when he dies and Erik sends his body down the sea,the musical score is something else too,and Janet Leigh, what a gorgeous shape she had...

I've seen the viking 30 times and it still impresses me today. Yes, Kirk did deserve and Oscar but in 1958 they made films of greatess such as GiGi and wonderful actor like David niven won the best actor in the next year Brisge on the river Kwai won the film and Alex Guinness best actor. This was at the golden time of films the year before Around the World in 80 Days (1956 film) won best film. Yul Brynner won best actor what a group to be born into. At the very least it deserved something for screen play or support artist today it would win foe effects. My fav part is the axes in the door as they climb them. Brilliant we will give him and the film a peoples oscar. :8)

Excellent,58' sounds like 39' for film,1939 offered Gone with the Wind,Oz,Bride Of Frankenstein, etc. I love that scene too,it is like a fine wine I believe, gets better with age.I would say Sir Alec was your countrys Lon Chaney,so many different characters, what a damn good actor he was...

Yes, Brilliant actor Alex Gunniess, we have them in abundance, so many it would make your eyes waters, even on our soap we have brilliant actors one called Ken Barlow or William Roache is in Coronation Street since 1960 and has never acted in anything else, now we would all think he must be rubbish but not at all. He for me is the best Soap actor on British TV. Another to watch is Michael Sheen, Brilliant with also Frank Langella an american actor is in a film Frost and Nixon he playing Nixon, He is wonderful as well. I Wales we have more actors than you can shake a stick at, they don't stay long in Wales, but they are Welsh. Liverpool known for singers and Comedians, Wales for singers and actors. :8)

Wales gave us Americans a graet musician,John Clae, genuis,I like Ken Barlow,he is amazing!Englands Pinewood Studios is beloved to me,I love The Avengers,Hammer films, and I guess alot of BBC series may have been filmed there...in the 60s and 70s.

Did you know that three of the writers of the American constitution and Bill of Right's were Welsh. Knowing my Country either Jones, Davies or Evans as their everywhere. In Wales the are so many Davies that they say Davies the Coal or Davies the Shop even today. Mind I come from Davies but my mother married a Parker My great grand mothers maiden names were: one was a Stagg, (then in second marrage) Fox and then she married a Wolf and she had 14 children.

 BeautifulDreamer79 - 04/02/09, 17:35 reply

Thank you, Ilked painting this one. I had very little to work with a poor phot and not the usual face pose but it seemed to draw it's self and the the paint just flowed I would have liked it to be a little clearer but as I added colour it look a little less like him. :8)

Thank you, had to work with the colours because the photo's of him are terrible so went of a mood one so the colours were important to the build up. He seemed not to get that extra hollywood bonus like Richard Todd, Laurence Oliver, Richard Burton all of that really good actor era. :8)
