Thank you, I read your comments on your gallery, you draw well. I like your work style and technique. What improves mostly is peoples is likeness. You have very good likeness skills, but need to improve your technical abilities. I will come and have a look if you want and give a little advise on tecnique. :8)

 brainfree - 16/09/09, 21:28 reply
Thank you, training is about learning or showing up at an art school. I have had many teachers some the best in the world as I observe and reproduce for 50 years I have trained each day to be better I feel the self taught thing with pride because many of my fellow portrait painters are the same up to 70% of working portrait artists who paint professional portraits are self taught. Why? well I think it's because the art of portrait painting to a certain level is In the artist I have always been a good illustrator but I never used watercolour I would use poster paint, pastel and acrylic paint for many years but three years ago My wife who paints lovely landscapes introduced me to watercolour It was like a switch being turn on the great likeness training I had done over the years fitted into the medium so I was hooked. I always say that artists are born but practice makes them good. That is why I paint every day even now and practice tonal work. My motto is try, try and try again never give up I would paint a picture get to a point then find I did not know how I would store it, until I did know how! always positive. Brian
