Yes this summer it was loosely based on Desperately Seeking Susan for an ex girlfriend and like a fool I did not photograph it,probably in Texas now, haha!
Excellent, MY favourite male singer Rob very serious Rob, he looks depressed. Excellent work great showing of emotion. From hair to eyes to the chin, wonderful. I love it but would love it more, in paint or colour.
I know this is going to sound a bit crackers, have you thought about leaving large non drawn areas, only the photos don't do your work justice. With light in Robs face it would go from excellent to wonderful.
thanks brian..the ref picture was not great to go by im sure i could make the face areas of dark a bit more dark ..but if i overwork it i would be gutted ..if i left white of the paper i would have thought it would look more pop art im going for realism here....he does suffer from depression the poor thing ...so that is why its came out in this work..i kind of like that..my river phoenix one shows a worried star also...maybe im drawn to this type of man...haha..
I think we are a little adift I would like to see more light across the work making his face lighter so you can use shadow to really make it work. The work is excellent for llikeness and your ablity to show emotion with out spoiling it is excellent I'm just bnging on about presentation because it's the next thing and it will raise your work with very little effort from excellent to wonderful.
Also i know its really bad but all these are taken with a mobile phone..i do not have a digi camera..would make a load of differance ..need to buy one really they are so cheap at the mo!..bad me..lol
Try taking the photo but play a light on it say a table lamp or a large torch and switch of the auto exposer. It's all about light hitting the portrait so once you get a really good one you can copy that lighting. Go for water colur pencils only they can be more bight colours. The best make for out of the ordinary ones like flesh and dark tone is Derwnet pencil their on the net and will tell you where you can buy them. Really good work must be presented really well.
Ok three that Dewwent do are pastel orange earth 73F, Drawing light sienna1619,Pastel Geranium lake15B. I use all these plis a dark wash the last is a wastercolour pencil. They are all in the skin tone family. Although they say they are pastels they are pencils and behave like coloured pancils.
excellent ..yeh im looking at derwent supersoft set..meant to be very good for blending and are velvety so that sounds cool...i will add your ones in that set too..cheers Brian..you are my watercolour manual!..or bible!..ha
