Very good Shahin. I wonder how many portrait artists who actually make a lot of money doing portraits now work with Corel and similar programs as opposed to traditional means. High resolution files and waterless digital printing could certainly yield better results at any size when compared to grubby little pencil drawings and even the labored oil paintings that just aren't quite right as to color and likeness. I think we all prefer to give creativity and spontanaiety a free rein with traditional methods for most subject matter...but for portraits....I wonder.
I think traditional tools and styles have their high and unchangeable place but gradually digital hardware (computers, printers, scanners, digital cameras, tablets,…) and also new generation of software find their place in artistic innovation. In Corel painter's Wow book, a very fine book about Corel, you can see many outstanding and money maker artists in U.S.A that use Corel painter in their works. They begin from scratch in digital environment (something I do in most of the times!) or occasionally blend the freehand works with digital techniques (as you do from time to time). Unfortunately I am far from such activities and I make portraits as hobby! Other wise may be I would be a renowned and wealthy artist (joking)!
Agreed...artists have always been innovators...it's those stuffy old patrons who drag the process down - along with the fees! I'll look up the "Wow Book." I'm sure it's interesting. The "Black Book" too, is full of ads for truly successful practitioners who have no qualms about media and who work freely in whichever arena best helps them create work of real value. There's a wide gulf between these professionals and the poorly informed, ill-equipped and scarcely talented hobbyist.
You certainly fit better into the former group than you do into the latter!
It already has! And long ago! I had only the vaguest awareness until I saw your work and your tutorials. (Remember, my first question was: "What in the hell is digital, wet oil paint??" Now that I've tried a few rudimentary techniques...I see that I will NEVER learn!! But...you have inspired me to try...and much more importantly, I'm sure you've opened doors for many much younger and more talented artists. So...bravo...congratulations...and... non carborundum illigitimi...
