Yikes!!! I found the perfect size for me is an 8x6 - almost all head with little background. It takes me about 5 to 7 hours, and I don't get too bored. I did an 8 x 10 twice of my friends kids, almost ALL face! Drove me crazy! Your hand strokes different and everything. Way too much detail.
Yes I do love working big. I love the works of John Singer Seargent he works big also. I usually can finish a piece in about an hour and a half. This one took three times that but I worked on it several days. The other tributes I did took about that amount of time too. I like working on 11x14 for a single face close up and for two or more faces usually use 14x17. Sometimes if there are three or four faces I use the 18x24 size usually horizontally.
Wow Christine!! This is the most fantastic portrait of John Kennedy with Caroline! You know how much I love the Kennedys!! Outstanding and beautiful job!! BRAVO my friend!!

the new one of Jackie and John should come up soon it has been posted!!!!! thanks for all your beautiful comments and encouragement it is very appreciated dear Marino!!!!!!!
Christine, I must have missed this one. You know how much I love the Kennedy's and you did a remarkable and wonderful job! Bravo my friend. How do you get a nice bright photo of a black & white sketch??
If you have photoshop you can up the contrast to about level 15 do not do much with the brightness it will difuse your shading but upping the contrast a tad will work very well and will make it more like the original drawing you may want to punch it up a bit more until you are comfortable. Go for it Jeanette that one is great!!!!
