Adam Sandler "The Longest Yard" Movie Poster featuring Burt Reynolds, Chris Rock and others.
I wanted to do something a little different. This isn't the complete poster, and I added a guard tower & wall.

This is ONLY 8x10, so the guys in the back-ground have heads the size of a coin, and I had to use a magnifying glass

The master of miniature I am the complete opposite of you I love to work big like John singer Seargent!!! saw his life size portraits in Chicago it was wonderful he worked mainly in oil though!!!!

 JRFortson - 20/04/09, 20:46 reply
Miniature is ok once in a while? But there is TOO big for me too. I find I prefer an 8x6 with the face about 5-6" forehead to chin. Any smaller, and u can't get the details, any BIGGER, and it takes too long and u can't ignore all the details, ha! :oO:

 Christine - 21/04/09, 16:00 reply
Yes you are learning though and everything is an experiment. I like using 11x14 bristol smooth for the portraits I make for clients and they seem to like it too. I use 14x17 for bigger double triple and quads. I like the smooth tooth for smudging. I don't especially like the intricate details and have to force my self to do that type of work. I am a production worker by trade and do about 15 to 20 thousand pieces a day quota for about thirty years now and I did have five children and knitted and crocheted for them. So I got used to doing things fast. At art school they emphasized being loose and quick especially in the life drawing class. That was years ago so my thoughts are pretty old fashioned I know. Your work is excellent I am a big fan of yours JR!!!!

 JRFortson - 21/04/09, 16:58 reply
wow on several points here, but I heard Bristol is good. I just bought my first smooth tooth paper, and I love it! I had went the middle of the road with either Strathmore or Canson medium tooth. I've sold real estate for 16 years, so you can imagine I have some free time now!? :guffaw: :oO: I never went to art school, and just started drawing 6 months ago, after a 30+ yr time out, ha! So, self taught is the school I go to. Glad you like my stuff!!! Thx Christine...I really like this site, after just 3 week!

 Christine - 22/04/09, 14:25 reply
Yes JR this site is fantastic I absolutely love it. Another good paper is Stonehenge. Not sure of the spelling on that. But it is good for colored pencil and wet and dry applications Dick Blick sells tablets of it in all sizes. It was a print making paper and is really tough. You would have a hard time ruining it. It has a cotton content and is super paper. I went to art school and have an associates degree in art. This amounts to about two years so it is no big deal. Mostly in Community College. Some in Cooper Art school in Cleveland Ohio. Much fun and I got to try a lot of differient things. Like sculpture, 7 drawing courses. Oil painting, design both black and white and color. Life drawing which is what I love and etc. Just a jumble of courses. You may want to persue this if you have resorces you are very good in art and could become a commercial artist very easily.

 JRFortson - 22/04/09, 17:38 reply
I would LOVE to make a living with art somehow? As you know, the real estate market SUCKS! This is my 16th year, and sales have been down 35-55% in the past 3+ years! Not good! Survival mode and drawing is my only escape from reality these days, ha! I have an offer now to teach a portrait class at a community college, but it's 1 night a week for 8 weeks for non-credit courses, as I have no teaching or art degree. I'm all self taught ha! PS-my full name is John Richard, but have gone by Rick for 46 years

 Christine - 23/04/09, 13:06 reply
I have worked at Red Head, we make concrete wedge anchors, for the past thirty years now. Of course the commercial and buildings and bridges etc. are down now too. So we are cleaning the shop, painting and doing all kinds of repairs on the building we are down to four day work week. They don't want to lay us off because Indiana is running out of unemployment funds. Sounds bad don't you think!!! Take that job it may lead to other work for you!!! Thanks Rick and keep in touch hope things pick up for everyone. Hope this doesn't lead to a big war as in the past.,

 JRFortson - 23/04/09, 17:32 reply
Sucks all over the world! My wife just had to go on unemployment yesterday, after hanging on to her job with a builder for 9 years. Could it be worse? Yes! They could stop making Graphite pencils!!! :oO:

 Christine - 23/04/09, 18:09 reply
