I've been in real estate for 23 years, so I offer a free portrait now with a home sale lol. :oO:

LOL...that should not be hard at today's prices in Chicagoland!!! Yes, some stranger at a Kinkos last Christmas saw me making copies (before I used a camera) and told me to call local colleges. He was an administrative director from an out of state college, and said he'd hire me in a minute! So, musta been an angel? lol

 vividec - 28/04/09, 22:04 reply
yeah! That's how these things happen! :angel:Just keep using your talent. I think THE BIG BOSS ( you know who I'm talking about) gets very angry if we don't. And great things will happen, they'll just fall into your lap! :ok:

I very much wonder why God chose to reveal this ability He gave me now? Age 47? Who knows? If even for the self enjoyment I get, it's worth it?

 vividec - 28/04/09, 23:09 reply
It's always been there buddy! We're just so busy swimming instead of floating. The self enjoyment as you call it makes you happy and positive which comes through to people and makes you successful in everything you do. I'm not that good with words...hope you understand. :/

I think you did him well, I tried to draaw my Nanna once, it was like..which wrinkle am I on?! I'm going mad! I ended up scrapping it. But it was also when I first started it may be time to have another go.

 JRFortson - 02/05/09, 00:00 reply
lol...I had 2 hours into Jerry Seinfeld last night, and put it in the shredder. I chose a photo that was cool, but too light on one side, and too dark on the other. I went like 3-6B and it turned into crayon. Very waxy and I hate that cuz it won't blend. I'm going to come back to him another day ha! :hi:

 Supersal - 02/05/09, 10:54 reply
Doesn't it just suck when that happens! I almost did that on my Bill Nighy one but finally finished it. Thats the drawing I put in the contest on Deviant Art. I don't really like it so I've vowed I'm never drawing small again. Most of mine now are 50cmx90cm, or 50x50cm but I have done one that was 180cm x 90cm. Bill Nighy is only 20cmx36cm.

 JRFortson - 02/05/09, 18:20 reply
I started a diff one last night of Ted Knight. It wasn't coming out and I said, "WHAT is wrong?" Then I discovered I had been using the new and DIFFERENT pencils on the last 2. NOW I realize how much I knew each one would react to different papers? I have always used Staedtler-German. I had bought some Derwent-England 2 nights ago. Shazam! That's it! I also discovered that there is a perfect working size for a face, at least for me? Total, top of forehead to bottom of chin (excluding hair) between 5-6 inches (20-24cm IF there are 4 cm to an inch?) Less than that, and I can't see or capture details. Larger than that, and you can't IGNORE all the details, and it takes you way too long.

 Supersal - 03/05/09, 07:18 reply
I know realise too that the size plays a big part for me! Small an I am out of my comfort zone big an I'm fine! You were right about my keys on the computer wearing out! It's been lovely!

 JRFortson - 03/05/09, 18:56 reply
well, to me, it's the opposite of bigger is better, ha! I don't like drawing skin pores and blood vessels in the eyes lol. Tell me what you think of the Ted Knight just posted when u can? Thanks girl

 Supersal - 04/05/09, 02:21 reply
Really? I can draw really good A4 size faces and up, my Jon voight is 50x50cm on MDF board, most of the time I go big. Became a "because a can now" once I started using MDF board, size sort of has no limits anymore. Hard to go back and draw smaller though. Bill Nighy was a bleepin' nightmare! it's 36x20cm and thier head are really little!

 JRFortson - 04/05/09, 21:47 reply
haha!! I know nightmares! I JUST did my first drawing on Strathmore Bristol, which is thicker than poster board! I LOVE it!!! tho the pencils work lighter, and you gotta blend like crazy to penetrate the tooth! 8o| :toc: Just got hired to draw a good friend's wife and newborn baby for mothers a day surprise! They aren't stars, but they will go on my blog. Should be a one night job? Have a good day mate! :hi:

 Supersal - 05/05/09, 12:14 reply
G'day there sorry it's taking me a bit to reply, my real estate agent called and said he wanted to do he's yearly inspection on the house we rent! B@#%@D real estate Agent ! HA! Just kidding! I just hate the inspections because it makes me feel like I did when my mum and dad would visit. UGH! I'm pretty tidy(kids and hubby make all the mess), so I don't know what I worry about, the house is always clean! I hate dirty floors stuff like that! Where was I...oh yeah, I love trying new materials, pencils and such. I love the challenge of something new! I'll have to try strathmore bristol? Sound like an interesting medium to use. Can't wait to see how it turns out for you!

 JRFortson - 05/05/09, 17:23 reply
I think Bristol has pros and cons. It is gonna be perfect for "certain" works. Gonna be very photo dependent!? I just spent 7 hours doing on for a friend last night of his wife a 4 week old boy for mom's day. Have a look see? ricksdrawings.blogspot.com/2009/05/christina-and-charlie-hrebic-jr.html Gotta show homes today. Talk to ya later  :hi:

 Supersal - 06/05/09, 08:18 reply
Hey there Rick, How'd you go with the house showing?! Went and had a look at your portrait of your friends wife and bub! Left a little message for you there, but to sum it up for you, it's unreal! You've drawn it beautifully. But really, I wouldn't expect anything but brilliance from you! Congrats!

 JRFortson - 06/05/09, 16:57 reply
I wrote an offer with them, so I hope to get it together today?!? LOL on life getting in the way of draw time! I started a Chevy Chase last night, but the photo quality was chit, and i ripped it up 30 mins into. I'm like a kid that way! :guffaw: Thanks a lot! He about cried when he saw it! He has already gotten me 3 drawing jobs since yesterday lol. Twin boys - 2 weeks old, and his parents. Current and 40 yrs ago! LOVE IT!!! If drawing is a drug, then I'm a $2 crack whore! :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

 Supersal - 06/05/09, 23:43 reply
clever little crack whore! If the jobs keep coming like that, you could throw in the real estate and just draw...all day. (Doesn't that sound nice - drawing all day) Also don't think I'm not drawing. I am. I'm actullay doing a major work for an art prize called the Australian Dobell coming up in the year. shall email you a snapshot if you like. Already put about 150hrs or more into it. IT's big and very detailed. Congrats on the drawing jobs, it really is awesome! You sond so much like me when I first started drawing, felt like I could walk on water, I felt like I had special gift! It is a good feelig, isn't it?

 JRFortson - 07/05/09, 00:20 reply
150hours? HOLY S***!!! Yeah, I want to see that when you are done! Priorities...in this order...drawing, sex, everything else? :guffaw: Hey u are right? Special gift anyone? I feel like I just found out I can freakin fly or something lol. My wife asks, "you gonna draw again tonight?". What I hear is, you really want to go flying again? Isn't it boarding to fly like superman? :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: My cape gets in the way sometimes? :oO:  More soon -R

 Supersal - 07/05/09, 03:40 reply
I know, an I'm only just over 1/2 way! UGH! I think my priorities runb the same however I do the first two in the reverse order, then everyones happy, an I get left alone to draw / walk on water / fly , what ever you prefer to call it! Speak when you touch down again! HEE!HEE!

 JRFortson - 07/05/09, 18:10 reply
you are quite mad too i see?!? :guffaw: check out the twins I did last night? ricksdrawings.blogspot.com/2009/05/teds-twins.html I miss drawing what I WANT to draw ha! Busy day...more later  :hi:

 Supersal - 07/05/09, 23:34 reply
Oh YEAH! Very mad! Lifes more interesting I feel this way! I did a few drawings for cash a few years back, but I was like you, enjoy the cash but hated not drawing what I wanted to draw. So now I only do it when I have too, like when relo's have babies etc and I tell them that it could be awhile - I'm easily distracted by own pwrsonal works!

 JRFortson - 08/05/09, 02:32 reply
Well, I think artists have something in them that moves them to draw certain things, and when someone hands them a pic and says draw THIS, it's understandable that you may not want to. I enjoyed drawing my friend's wife and baby, b/c of all the contrast in the photo. But the twin babies were washed out, hats on, eyes closed, etc. I had to make chit up, lol. Eyes are THE most identifiable attribute, and they were closed, so it could be anyone's babies? I don't feel good about taking his money! Back to drawing what I want tonight! Found a gr8 high contrast photo of a young Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) Done tomorrow? TTYL - Rick

 Supersal - 08/05/09, 08:43 reply
Totally agree about the eye thing. IT's the window to the soul, when they're shut it makes the job hard especially with bubs. Can't wait to see tomorrows edition, use to watch Magnum P.I. love the movies he was in too. my daughter has a pet huntsman spider named Smokey, His a "Banded" huntsman. Hubby named it thinking it was the "Bandit" huntmans! :oO: :D :hi:

 JRFortson - 08/05/09, 19:27 reply
"Spiders and muscles and bubs...oh my". What the heck are bubs? lol. Spiders are the only thing in nature I don't let out the front door. Yeah, I feel sorry for them as I smash the living **it out of them and flush them, but they should learn not to be so creepy, and giving them pet names doesn't take away the fear?!? :guffaw:   :oO: :hi:

 Supersal - 09/05/09, 09:19 reply
Bubs is a another aussie term for babies, sorry, babies are hard to draw I was saying, an even more so when their eyes are shut. The spider thing started 2yrs ago when my daughter was 4. She saw one on the wall in our shed at our caravan we go away to(it's on the Hawksbury River in NSW) She wanted me to catch it. Since then we've had about ten adults and about 1000 babies, but now we only have two adults. One is as big as your hand and very nastyy in attitude, which makes cleaning it's tank extremely nerve racking. the other you can pat. we feed them crickets you by at the pet shop. She loves them so I just had to get use to them. I'm cool with them now, an I can't kill them anymore when I see one! I be very quiet(cause otherwise I'll have to keep it if the kids find out) and I just put a cup over it and slide a piece of paper under and then take it outside. Easy! But no your right, giving them pet names does not take away the fear! I still jump when ones appears from no-where
