I had to come up with something. When I scan my portraits they are about either 11x14 or 14x17 inches so they are big. The backgrounds get muddy and funny looking so I started to blend them and work with them through Photo shop 2. I try to get rid of the imperfections of the scans coming together by this method. When drawing them I use a rag and graphite powder. It is very subtle shading and it works well with the eraser too. Try it it is fun to do almost a finger painting technique.

Thanks Guegan very challenging but I am not entirely pleased with it. I did need to doctor it up a bit with photoshop for the hair on the left the original is perfect and I didn't notice the blunder and don't want to re-post it !!
