Thanks Chantal!! There isn't that much black is there? I've got some REAL black drawings lined up. Gonna have to go charcoal. The tuff ones to me are where parts of the face is in a black shadow. It's hard to render those!?!? Thanks again - too kind!!
REMARKABLE ... EXTRAORDINARY SPOTLIGHT Mr Major Tom Selleck RICK, a pure beauty your portrait, I love your drawing as all of your beautiful gallery, beautiful contrast, a sublime expression of the face, normally it is very handsome man of great art, superbly well designed, very good work, congratulations .. Time for bed, night!!
What's up JUD? Run out of black in yet? I used to draw landscapes with a black gel tip pen, then use a small wet paint brush to make it bleed for shading. I enjoyed it, and I love black blacks! They are hard to get with pencils. Thanks lot man. Hey, have a peek at my John Cleese? Should be up in about an hour?
Not enough drawing for sure!!! I was help my Aunt with some graphic stuff for a program that she had to do, and got side tracked, with that and now just can't seem to get my groove back....HELP...LOL, I drew Tom Selleck in art school in 83' it was really good, man I wish that I still had it...yours is wonderful,,,,
Yeah I haven't seen you post in a while? I get a lot of inspiration from this site, but I'm constantly thinking of who to draw next, and have folders in my computer of about 50 people to do, most with the pics already found, cropped and ready to go. I also like trying to think of really GOOD ones that no one here thought of yet, ha! If you just need some people ideas, let me know?
come on Dawg...don't get down ON yourself!?!? Get down WITH your bad self!!! and DRAW!?!? I will send you a list of gr8 celebs for ideas, if you want? Lemme know? Take care in the mean time!!

EXELENT DRAWING JR I just saw your toturial and your gallery and WAOH!!!!! IT'S TOTALLY AWESOME - WHAT A TALENT!!!!!
Tom's just perfect - the eybrows and moustache are so detailed it must've taken 'forever' to do and the hair and shading - yes everything's just formidabel. Love those burning eyes as well. GREAT GREAT JOB.
I haven't been around for a while and's got a lot of catching up to do in various galleries. Glad I discovered yours.
Margrethe
Can I hire you to be my marketing rep? Thanks very much!!! Actually, the eyebrows only take about 10 minutes, mustache maybe 15 mins?? I do them in layers. First, when I draw the eyes, and then I just come back to them a couple more times in the drawing and darken certain areas. If they have complicated eyebrows, with white random hairs, I FIRST scratch some hairs in the paper with a nail, then when you pencil over the lines, they appear? I read how online. Eyes on the other hand can take 1-2 hours, depending on how detailed they are? Glad you likey!
Just posted Leslie Nielsen. Had a poor photo to work with. and here I swore I'd never use a grainy photo again! Grrr I start drawing things that aren't there?
HI JR Just commented on Hr. Nielsen
Yeah - grainy pics aren't the best, but sometimes you see a pic you just HAVE to do and the 'adding of stuff that aren't there - well - artistic license.
Thanks again!! Glad you like them! My personal fav is Robert DeNiro? Maybe because I just finished him, but Selleck was my fav when I finished him too, ha!
Thanks! I agree! But I put a tissue around my finger, so as not to get oil on the paper from my skin. I never use anything to alter the photo I take. I guess some do, not that you say it?
thanks a lot Peggy! You are right. Your Gerard is incredible and the added touch is the blurry background. I believe it "fools the brain" into thinking it is more real for some reason. Doing something like that today with background for Sean Connery...post tomorrow
boy you really are in my old gallery now lol. Thanks though! Did you see my drawing of Christ I just posted today? It's a bit shocking. From the Passion. I think it freaked some people out here. Hardly any comments, ha! Must be the spiritual warfare?

EXELENT DRAWING JR
I just saw your toturial and your gallery and WAOH!!!!!

Just posted Leslie Nielsen. Had a poor photo to work with. and here I swore I'd never use a grainy photo again! Grrr
I start drawing things that aren't there?

HI JR
Just commented on Hr. Nielsen
Yeah - grainy pics aren't the best, but sometimes you see a pic you just HAVE to do and the 'adding of stuff that aren't there - well - artistic license.

EXACTLY!!! I have a few of those hehe!!!

This portrait is my favorite!!!
He look so real!!!

Hi and thanks! You know, I think it's the out of focus background that adds to the realism? That's my theory anyway, ha! TYVM!!!

Thanks again!! Glad you like them! My personal fav is Robert DeNiro? Maybe because I just finished him, but Selleck was my fav when I finished him too, ha!

Great job! A pencil and fingers are the best way to achieve a good drawing... No need to correct it with corel paint or other digital programs
