Thank you, I have many portraits of her not from photo's but painted after watching her of video or from taking photo's of some else who is similar and changeing details. It is a great way of getting original work I love being the first or watching other copy my work, it is a great compelment. As far as coptright I belive all art should be free.
Thank you, the idea took a lot longer, once it's in my head I'm like a train I go for it. I would love to paint a large work of her from real life to capture her soul on paper. I'm such and old fan.
Yes I am breaking into color but slowly. I guess goache is going to be my next attempt. I have a lot of Bristol paper to use yet I think the paint will go better on Stonehenge paper it has some cotton in the pulp it was originally used for print making. Need to stock up on some good watercolor paper don't like the rough stuff though!!!
I use a thick and thin watercolour paper depending on whether it's a wet or dry paint type. Most of my pastel work I did with sugar paper of different colours.
Brian is the sugar paper like newsprint I can't imagine that. I have tried to do some on that paper that has a sand paper consistancy but my hands were rubbed raw. I don't like it because I do a lot of smudging and that is too hard on the hands.
Oh Brian if you like big sound I reccomend IlDivo. It was the best concert I have ever been too. WOW Magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You need to paint IlDivo. The four singers are on my web page here. Also several other artists have done them. Shahin included. He is a pro with digital art.!!!!!
Oh thanks so much Brian that means so much to me to have you paint IlDivo can't wait to see them. Going camping for a week tomorrow so I won't be able to comment for a few days. No internet there.
Merci, I' ; m heureux vous l'aimez, elle est mon chanteur préféré et bonne en valeur une écoute et encore un meilleur she' ; l'anglais mais Gallois de s pas.
Thank you, I have so many drawings of her, I could be one of those boring one subject painters. Lately I've listened to some great music and seen some great films, From were I have the time, I don't know. The eyes are the most important thing to get right it's the mood it sets.
i've painted my dog, and my father meens that the eyes are excactly the eyes from my dog. i was very happy to hear this if you want to see it: smartisgirl.deviantart.com/art/Ruby-watercolor-122837305 i also like watch films, but while i'm watching i'm drawing at the same time...so i hear the film. it sounds crazy but it isn't
I have seen it on your gallery there what a lovely looking dog I had a dog 30 years ago but she died and I have no photo's of her she was named Kipper and was a black and white sheep dog. Your father was right very good eyes.
She was a welsh collie which is all black and white a Boarder collie has brown on it. The Welsh collie is smaller than the working collie and unfortunately I have only one photo of her with a big German Shepard called Han's who was also mine. He would follow her everywhere he loved her she was the cheeky leader. I did obedience training with them in a class of Dog trainers which entered Obedience competitions. To get them in your mind imagine a huge dog with a little dog telling it what to do. I loved them both and have never had another dog mainly because I could not suffer the loss again so now I have a cat and he also is a real character. His name is Aero and he is a little grey boy and has a gang of bigger cats who call for him everyday they are all Doctored. This is going to sound as though I’m a nut job but he talks not English but he asks to come in or go out He says sorry and will plead for his food. Because when he was a kitten, he was mothered by a dog he now has dog ways. Like he fetches things if you throw them, he will sit or go flat if asked. Although cats are very independent, he will do what he’s told like a dog and when he’s out with his gang he has to be in the front like a leader.
yeah we've got four dogs, three aussies and one sheltie. my father, sister, brother and i do agility with them. it's really funny. i go with the sheltie, he's called Niklas. He barks nearly non-stop when he's running agility, but i still like him. that thing what you told me with the cat is really intressting, first i thought it's a fairytale or a film story, but i believe you that's real
We are a chocolate Bar, family we've had a Crunchy, Twix, Ruffles and the first one was a Rolo all British choco bars and even right back 30 years ago to a Polo (a mint) who was white. All sadly gone now only Aero left. I like all the names they start with MMMM.
Merci, je n'ai pas saisi toute votre réponse, Duffy est mon chanteur préféré de fille que j'ai beaucoup de schémas de elle, mais je montre seulement uns comme I don' ; t veulent obtenir le ventilateur hanté.
I wasa saying that when you've reached the point when you really mastering your art, you can draw everything, exactly as you had it in mind ! (it was a great compliment of course of you stunning technique in aquarelle )
Yes it is good but I still practice. The techniques of likeness, painting and how to portray what you see, I love them all. I also like other people art your gallery is very good and the standard you have is excellent. I two years ago was not as good as I am today in two years the likeness has entered my work I no long beat myself up over whether they look like whom I'm painting it seems to come naturaly. the only advise I give is practice learn technique and obtain more skills. Brian
You're SO right ! Practice is the secret ! I drawn, to be honnes since to month from now, my first portrait was awful (but I've kept it for me ) but I knew I could do it better (I'm not exactly a newbie neither, I've always knew I could drawn, it's like a "family thing". So I've keep drawing, each day and I've posted my drawing here, you can see the evolution, it's funny for me. Like you, I'm still learning new things and each drawing tached me something more and as you tell "obtain more skills".
I like your gallery a lot and I can see the improvment or progression in your drawing. I have drawn and painted for 50 years so please forgive my teacher ways. If I was to advise I would say to go a little larger or to give a little more background. Your drama and eye for a portrait is very good, try a little colour say a black and white toned water colour or pastel work expeirement. Have a go, be adventurous and most of all belive in yourself. You have an excellent talent, never be afraid to push or learn things. Their only difficult if you say it is. Brian.
Thnak you ! I'm glad you like my gallery et you smart advices for me For the moment I'm focusing on the "expressivity" (befor it was the "likenes only). I'm drawing just with pencil for one good reason (a méterial one !) it's most convenient for me, where I live now I ve no space to draw (just draw in my bed), but I very like pastels and I guess I day when I could I'll try and I'me very fond of aquarelle, it's so beautiful ! I would try it one day !! For the backroung, I still don't now, will see in the next two month, how far I'll go from now
Try when you in your bed to do larger work or change the angle on the pad. Try doing background save your old pencils crush and make pencil lead dust rub onto the paper the apply cooking oil and rub off all is possibel your plan sounds excellent expressivity is emotion difficult with pencil. Most of all enjoy or have fun not just at art enjoy life make good decisions. Brian.
I've all ways wanted to be a Red Indian. MY nick name is 'brainfree' because my sons reckon I'm thick, a good dad but thick. So I have no brain I'm free of any just emotion. Mind I like 'wise spirt' better.
Thank you, see it's not perticularly a wondertful lieness but colour gives it life and mood. This is why I keep going on about colour and practice. 5 years ago I could not have done work like it.
Thank you, love what your saying as it is what I have been saying for years it's a wonderful medium for portrait. The only thing is I can do light, heavy, bright or dull with wonderful watercolour. I love looking at traditional water colour but because it's traditional does not mean it's the only way of doinf it. Show my colourful paintings to children and ask who does it look like, thats the test, I only like my work when it passes the children test. adult will be tackfull and say it has qualities of people which means it could have looked like them. It's the not so famous actors singers I like painting because I have to work harder then getting likeness not just hiding behind dark or low colour. Sorry I'm going on a bit. Brian.
I will have to be on my metal for the challenge of all the excellent watercolorists coming on in leaps and bounds on this site. A great Welshman said that the student allays surpasses the teacher because the student starts with the teachers lifetime of knowledge. I only wish for the watercolour to become more used for portrait not in those half tone washed out colours but dark or bright in contrast.
Thank you, At the moment this has come at the right time as I'm a bit sad about my father death and I have only just started to think of new work the last two are ones I have done a long time ago and I have just finished. The spark of new work is so low at the moment I only hope I can get it back.

Woow! Great job! It looks just like her!!!

Thank you, I have many portraits of her not from photo's but painted after watching her of video or from taking photo's of some else who is similar and changeing details. An hour!Wow.You should send this too her Brian,it's amazing.

Thank you, the idea took a lot longer, once it's in my head I'm like a train I go for it. I would love to paint a large work of her from real life to capture her soul on paper.
I'm such and old fan.

Or better yet,let her record company get a look at this and other Duffy works and maybe a album cover?Would,nt that be the ultimate fan salute?

Yes, I have far better ones than this one. for myself.

Thank you, again I like your full large faced portrait of Emmy Rossum.

thx!!!

Thank you, I like you Dakota Fanning pastel drawing, very good you are the master of the pastel drawing, I drew with them fo many years.

Yes I am breaking into color but slowly. I guess goache is going to be my next attempt. I have a lot of Bristol paper to use yet I think the paint will go better on Stonehenge paper it has some cotton in the pulp it was originally used for print making. Brian is the sugar paper like newsprint I can't imagine that. I have tried to do some on that paper that has a sand paper consistancy but my hands were rubbed raw. I don't like it because I do a lot of smudging and that is too hard on the hands.
I've used sand board and I would put finger tape on my fingers.

YUCK!!!!!!! won't use it again don't like it a bit!!!!!!!
Oh Brian if you like big sound I reccomend IlDivo. It was the best concert I have ever been too. WOW Magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's totally real, he likes dogs and wants to play with them. I would not lie about my 'Aero'

All cats are wonderful. Molly what a great name.

think that too
at the moment we have 4 young cats and i search for names.. our cats are called mozard, munzli and molly.
We are a chocolate Bar, family we've had a Crunchy, Twix, Ruffles and the first one was a Rolo all British choco bars and even right back 30 years ago to a Polo (a mint) who was white. All sadly gone now only Aero left. I like all the names they start with MMMM.
