Thank you, very simple drawing with good likeness. Then an undercoat of light blue. The combination of good painting technique on the eyes, lips and nose, the rest is very simple harsly any hair or ears makes it a simpe drawing. I like your gallery I notice you use acrylics these are very unforgiving but great for some jobs I use both on mine. I paint the face tone in watercolour but use acrylic on some eyes and lips it is easier and does not move, try both but as I have said likeless comes from drawing but not masive shading, simply spotting the face things that make them them no sercrets just practice and hard work. Good Luck. Brian, brainfree.
Thank you, I have put a very involved cmment above. I love your galery of pastel work I to learnt my tone work from pastel. They teach tone brilliantly I drew with them for ten years but then the move to paint came a little more difficult, move early take your wonderful use of likeness early to paint as it is a little more difficult but the longer it take the longer it will take. Brian
Thank you, good simple drawing the first step. Remember practice, perseverance and patience and never giving up. I love your twilight ones their excellent.
Thank you, mine very simple just good likeness drawing. I love your threesome drawing of Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, you show very good likeness skills, if you don't mind me saying more from illustration art, than a part of your inner self, but they are perfect. Pencil is a great teaching tool but paint is out of this world, paint hard to master but worth the work. The earlier you move the better no matter what the outcome is, My first paintings after pastel drawing were poor, it took me many years of hard work, practice, perseverance and patience. I wish I could have been as good as you are aged 21. Brian, brainfree
Thanks, I am just starting to paint so hopefully will get to add some portraits with watercolors and acrlycis soon. but it will take a lot of trial and error to master Im sure. Thanks again
I have three excellent tips,
1. Buy a watercolour disvoling pencil it disapeers when water added.
2. painting in steps first draw then shadow of light blue, then colours, then blending and fially the detail.
3. make two pots of dirty water one black, dark blue and on light say light blue or purple. The dark one can be used for shadow on top of the colour and the light shadow one before you start after the drawing. Use acrylic for pupils and the shine on eyes, also teeth the dark water is the gaps. Good luck don't give up some times their easy sometimes a little more difficult you will learn from mistakes and I'm sure be very good. Remenber it's not about perfect but inner feeling. Any probs just ask. Brian, brainfree.
Thank you Catarina, First I love your portraits and I offer a little insight I can see you love Avril L. I to like her but my favourite is Duffy, Why am I telling you this well I have painted a lot of Duffy's but even more others try a few ones you don't like have a small go at say a few horror ones or people like Marilyn Manson or ones of that type why because it will make Your Avril's better. Try different things draw backgrounds all black or different colours Try paint or different things. I'm not making critiques just that variety is the way forward and standing still is not I have move onward and forward all my long life be positive. I’m only saying this because your talented. Brian, brainfree
Thank you, well art is not saying that we know it all, but I try to learn somthing everyday, wheather about me, things or others. On this painting I am trying to perfect the eye whites, so far I have tried to using just white paint and moving it around but now I have a very light grey paint almost white and it seems to work. Learning all the time never staying still.
Thank you, I have visted your gallery often, I'm always amazed by the talented, young French artists you are a very talented people. Your work is amazing. Great work. Brian, brainfree
Thank you, I love your rich, warm wonderful work it is very special. The talent here on this site is amazing either well established artists like yourself or people wanting to learn, notice I did not say young people as they are of all ages. Thank you again for the another I try! I have not felt like painting properly for a while after the death of my father. But 'I'm back' like some actor said. Brian brainfree.
Thank you, I have been inspired to paint Farrah Fawcett after seeing your drawing. Brian
Merci, j'ai été inspiré peindre Farrah Fawcett après avoir vu votre schéma. Brian
Your work speaks for it's self your very talented and a great artist, confidence is a feeling try to see the world through your work, then you will grow and oneday in the near future be confident and sure of yourself. Life is a wonderful thing it's to be lived not allowed to pass by, I love interviews with people whether at work or for say a home. I show them that it's better to try, than never try at all. Failing is a stepping stone not a wall. When I was a young man I was to honest I would get into trouble for telling, true, this made me look at other people and treat them differently. I would watch what I said to them still being honest but caring about whether I hurt them. I had no encouragement from my father all my life. This was his problem not mine and before he died only a month ago he said this to me.
it's really damage ..my parents either have never encouraged me. That may be why I did not trust me.Even now my mother knows I draw but never look at my drawings. She never wanted me to do an art school. This was my dream. My biggest regret: have let my parents drive my life for not pas upset them. Today it is difficult to grow. I imagine very strong and sure of yourself. and I envy you ... Thank you for the confidence you have in me
All art is a reflection of our past and how we deal with it. Be positive your a wonderful painter, able to show great emotion and feeling in your work.
I can understand that friend....and also your grandchildren may want to have a tool as a remembrance do you have granchildren Brian I have never asked?I know you have two sons...
No not as yet, I live in hope, I do have 20- six year old Beavers, 35- eight year old Cubs and 16 - fourteen year old scouts. We are a family of scouters for over 30 years so many, many kind of grand children.
Thank you, Their just glimses paint sketches or darawings with paint any one can paint like meif they spend enough time prtacticing I on a little holiday at the moment just a few now and then when I'm at top speed I will paint 5 to `10 a day. Im painting at the moment Farrah Forsett, but Intend to paint the brother in Twilight and the family. It's making them look memorable not just an ordinary photo copy portrait I like different.
Thank you, when it comes to art likeness for me is the main thing it takes many years of hard work and is a small talent. The main thing in protrait painting is to please you the viewer your opinion is what I seek. So thank you.
Yes I agree and you have so many comments on your portraits so it definately works! And I have a lot more time to practice as I am only 16 so when I look at yours and others portraits it is what I hope to be like in a few years!!
You will, never take yourself to seriously art is all subjective, whether one person likes it or a thousand makes no difference.
I do it for myself first, then others.
Thank you, very flattering but untrue I'm just old and have had a lot of practice. I hve only painted well for about 5 years I'm a perfect example of hard work gets you there in the end. Brian, brainfree
Talent is a much used word I agree we have to have it! but is stops others from trying to finding it, because they thing your born with it. You are very talented, I'm sure you have worked very hard to get the magic or talent and draw excellently, as a bit of wisdom don't wait to long before going over to colour, as it is a stepping stone, better done early than late. I waited to long and drew very well for many years but failed to move on. If we wait for the perfect drawing or being perfect at drawing! we will hold back colour and paint. I paint here with watercolour because it is the easest to learn. Like learning anything it has to be learnt in steps: First drawing technique for paint, then tonal or colour choice, from pastel work and finally the last step finding your style. Everything is open to you, youth is on your side, remenber nothing is easy and we only love? what is hard to get. Brian
