Thank you, I'm glad I could get a good likeness through those black glasses. I have been fiddling with the concept for about two years but the best way sometimes is just to paint from the heart. Brian  :8)

Thank you, on the original photo which is off a LP cover I have, the detail is very poor so I had to study many photo's to get the orginallity, colours and look. Brian  :8)

I think, that it's right way to go. I can't paint using just one photo, I am collecting material untill I begin to feel the person from inside. Anyway, I like your portrait very much, because it has not just likeness, you captured the spirit! :blowkiss:

 brainfree - 08/08/09, 08:28 reply
What a wonderful comment you have made it is for me the best I have every received to capture the spirit of Roy is more than I ever hoped for Thank you. For me it's about originallity and practicing the skill of likeness getting the hidden spirit, thats why all through this painting I played his music. I find you work is about the spirit, feeling and mood. I try to pass on to the beginners the gift of looking for the hidden things I call it the Magic. I think it's an age thing, as you get older you look more for the inner love, rather than the bloom of youth, as i'm a man I still look at pretty girls but also see more beauty in and older face mainly because I see my own in the mirror  I have been away for a week and have returned for the first time in ages with no paintings half done just blank paper I will have to look for a little insperation. Thanks for the comment. Brian

 nm - 11/08/09, 20:08 reply
I am so agree with you, Brian. It's a real gift and magic to see inside and trying to show it in your work. I like old Bruce Willice more than his young images and his work. It's so mature. Unfortunately, age is a price to pay for maturity. :/ :blowkiss:

Merci, Thank you, I like your gallery and subjects. I too! use a little Acrylic in my work, for eyes mainly I find it to be very unforgiving and the wash work of watercolour to be to tempting. Brian  :8)

Thank you, I have liked his music for 50 years many of the great singers Elvis, Frank S, John Lennon all thought he was the greatest and King of Rock and pop I look at the way Michael Jackson is regarded now after his untimely death and wonder if today if Roy had lived how youngsters would react to the real King of Music dieing wrote his own music, sung his own music, created a style and always sung from the heart only Billy Joel, Paul McCartney were as good in composing, the amount of wonderful music many composers, composed for others he composed for himself and all of us. Brian. :8)

Thank you, more about feeling I have painted quite a few Roy O the man in black a singing superstar, You can see I have loved his music for 50 years and painted this start to finish with only my heart. A very nice man who wrote a lot of songs from his heart they are a bit simple and plain but always moving. For me when he died it was the same as your generation losing MJ but as you get older many many people pass on. That's life enjoy life whilst your here as there are no second chances, Brian

No big secret just paint them with acrylic white lightly, then use a little gouache black in layers. Some things are not a big secret, just follow your excellent ablity. I've been away on holiday and visiting an Uncle. All my family problems are over and although I miss my father I'm feeling better now! Be good to your parents now because it matter not how old you are or what may have happened between you, when they are gone you will still love them. I hope you are having fun, this summer holidays as here all youngsters are on school holidays. I'm very busy at the moment taking care of my fathers home and business. Brian   :8)

 TokioHotel_sigrid - 08/08/09, 12:55 reply
Ok, thank you for the tip! (Have no gouache, is it working with just black aquarel?) Nice to hear from you. I'm always nice to my parents

 TokioHotel_sigrid - 08/08/09, 12:58 reply
I tell them every day how much I love them. And vice versa. After the 12-days long trip with my friend to an Island outwith Sweden my self-confidence are zero. She made me feel like I was a jerk. A "slowthinking pimple-girl". But my parents and my friends are making me feel like before.. The weather in Sweden is amazing and I swim in the sea almost every day. Me and my mum have even taken some swimming-trophies!! We feel so proud ;xD We did have to work alot for those, I can tell you! :xp: Sigrid :blowkiss:

 brainfree - 08/08/09, 14:53 reply
Your a very cleaver, pretty girl and as far as pimples are concerned they are a part of growing up. Slow thinking is better than making poor judgement, like that so called friend, dump her it's her loss. When your fully grown up, you will remember that trip as a good learning thing, about the silly ways of others. I swam when I was a young man from about 15 until I was about 18 every day it is good exercise. If you swim with your mother and family that's excellent I only wish I had swam more with My boys ( 30th and 35 now) Have fun live life, think less about your appearance because the story of the signet and the swan is true one day you will be a swan, to all boys. I judge people on what they are and not on what they look like, I would rather a smile on a plain girl, than a frown on a beautiful girl. Brian  :8)

 TokioHotel_sigrid - 08/08/09, 17:46 reply
Your words are so true. But she is (although she is stupid some times) very funny to be with. It seems so easy when you say "dump her". But she is aqtually a good friend sometimes too.... It's gonna take a while to figure out what to do... And swimming is so nice! I have asthma, not so bad but when I run for example 1 km it gets quite hard to breath. But in the water it's no problem!

 brainfree - 10/08/09, 08:59 reply
Thank you, Ok I thought she was bothering you, if you forgive her! then you prove your a better person than she is. Swimming is a great fitness hobby I have to lose a lot of weight as I'm turning in to a porker and expanding on my stomace I look like a roly poly. So walking is my thing about 4 miles every day. As you get older the Asthma will get better waliking would improve your breathing or Yoga. I had a lot of problems when I was young so I played football and cricket and played for hours with my sons when they were younger. :8)

 TokioHotel_sigrid - 10/08/09, 10:14 reply
Haha, what is a "roly poly"? Sounds kind of funny :D! I've started to run in the mornings as well. With music in my ears I can run very far without notice that I can not breath!! But running is aqtually fun I think! 4 miles... Is one mile almost 2 kilometers or..? That is so good of you!! I keep telling my dad that he should run but.. he has other excercise. Like cut down huge trees and fix a new shower in the bathroom.

 brainfree - 11/08/09, 10:20 reply
Roly poly was a group of very short round dancer in the 80's. Walking is the best excersize for the brain and body. Don't over do your running be a builder, build it up a little every day 'From small acorns we get mighty Oaks' Brian  :8)

Okay  :cute:

 brainfree - 08/08/09, 14:40 reply
You can use a light grey but more of a watercolour for it's see through quality. I'm glad to here that about your parents. What we sow is what we reap. Be nice to people and they will be nice to you. Black ink would have the same qualities as gouache less opake more see through. :8)

Your work on those glasses is amazing!

 brainfree - 31/08/09, 10:13 reply
Thank you, it is a one off, the work is completely original to me, The glasses and reflections look complicated but are easy after a lot of practice the difficult thing is the concept. I listen to him singing away all the time I painted him what and artist of both voice and composing. Brian  :8)
