Hi lovely Lanka! Thanks to you and to all my tolerant visitors!! I noticed in my wretched little reference photo that Charlie has a handkerchief or flower in his lapel which I have now added and made bleeding red. I will spare you version #3!! You're welcome!
DeGaulle"!
: I know only what little I've assimilated here Add rotten typist and I'm almost speechless...maybe I should stick to: 'Superbe! Magnifique! Tres Jolie! De rien.
Thank you, yes, and thank you very much! I created a bold vector script for another purpose and decided to 'set it' as a signature with a couple of 'swash' characters. Typography is another art form altogether. It's great to see so many here who have insight into it. of course, I've seen your command - and it is complete.
BRAVOOO master John! Magnificent Chaplin! Always admired by all the generations! He left us an important legacy: The laugh in opposition to the adversity.
Great improvement - I love them both equally ... mmm, maybe I SHOULD take your example John. The complete red background makes it more striking and has the desired effect. Well done my friend from The States.
Hi Jeanz! I, too, hate to take down the comments of all these charitable and generous aesthetes. Soooooo, I just put up whatever I like and figure if someone wants to simply 'move on' --- that's OK too! But, THANK YOU for stopping by again!! Nice 'talking' to you!!!
ahhh - I learnt a new word today ("aesthete" appreciater of beauty in art - thanks Prof ) ... I reckon life is one big game of finding ways to make everything just that little bit better ... so I love your approach. It's always nice talking to you. I shall submit my own improved version 2nite, plus my new scanty scan. KEEP SMILING ...
Sorry to send you to the dictionary. At least now it's only clicks rather than steps (and pounds) away! And
to see your amendments +++ scanty scans! Oops...that's the nasty smiley. I meant simply:
Unfortunatly i stayed behind in music, but i DO SING LOUD if i feel like it! How is it: Sing like no one hears, dance like no one sees"... yippedy yip, thats me!
I'll bet you weren't far behind in anything Biggs! I think that country guy set Mark Twain's quote to music and got millions of credits for it. AND! Your 'yippidy-yip" is cute as a basket of puppies!
"yippedy yip" is Biggs language.. one thing i can tell yah, i was naughty as hell at school... i still have this friend, she is a big woman and i would always make trouble (in a sweet way) and hide behind her... so ICE AGE!... When that movie came out, i saw myself and my friend... oh boy... let me go, i always have to much to say... typical woman... girl... woman, whatever! Have a super weekend... or did i say that already? OH HECK CHERIO MY FRIEND!
So, you were behind the big girl! Good plan! We used to have a giant friend who waited with us for the school bus. When winter was at its worst, we would huddle around him for warmth.
Most of us were skinny little 14 y.o's and he was a passenger worth a thousand BTUs! He didn't understand how his popularity could rise as the temperature dropped but he could sure block the wind!
Hi BobBon! Lovely of you to drop by. Thank you very graciously AND I'm glad to hear you think I HAVE a style. I see so many galleries with such a consistency - all B&W or all color or all pencil or all the same size!!! - my little thought process boggles! I have real trouble finishing something the way I started it!! Guess it shows!!
Hey John, great stuff, I always thought he had a streak of badness and that's quite an evil look there. I'm sure it's only me, as nobody else mentions it.
Now here's a puzzle... Bet you (like myself) haven't heard from these people lately... Deberg, Karen Clark, Ilharmonica No?
If you look back at some of your older work when you last heard from them, you'll find their names are no longer highlighted , so you can't click to see their galleries!!! Does this constitute a conspiracy theory. I certainly hope we don't vanish, John , it would mean that sombo
Hi Tom! Thanks a lot. The only alleged 'badness' was laid at Charlie's doorstep by McCarthy and various national fervors surrounding WW ! & II. By modern standards, he would be 'left-leaning' only a little. A touch of mischief was the full extent as far as I know or intended here.
As to those you mention (and others - but not Karen Clark) I think they were all very good and vastly entertaining artists and I miss them. The endlessly inventive 'Tekkamaki' was among them. Some have been kind enough to say good-bye via e-mail and invite me to new private sites. I miss Karen too but don't know why she left. It was, apparently, a large unpleasant drama.
I was well out of the loop and only gathered partial explanations from some of the departed after the fact. There were extremely rude accusations and ugly indictments served up from both sides. "Fraud!" "Cheater!" "^%&$^!!!" I don't know what was actually said. I do think the overall skill quotient declined because of it.
It IS me, John. I only rarely found C.C. funny! I am a L.&H. fan and still find them funny. Boy! and I thought I was the clever one for missing some familiar names. Guess Agatha Christie wouldn't want to feature me in a book. (it's O.K. John, I know she has gone the way of J.Travolta!!
All the "Fraud" "Cheater" business, Was that between the artist and the site? What would start that and who would have anything to gain? I'm at a loss to understand.
Now there's definately a new avatar. You've lost me again
Charlie was often on the poignant & sad side of humor.
As to that incident, I don't know what was said and wouldn't repeat it if I did.
I understood that it came from a member with no art in the gallery, and was directed at, and to a member who was a favorite of many. Very many.
At issue was whether it's a photo or not - the discussion deteriorated enough to cause all those resignations either in support of the favored member or in disgust over the language that was used.
Who needs all that? Good question.
I managed a staff of 9 to 15 artists and writers for 35 years. Average tenure 3 years, so, approximate total, 140 individual art-types. There's always big drama with some and total professionalism and courtesy with others.
There's gnashing of teeth, jealousy, widely varying tastes and disparate levels of skill, training, sophistication and talent.
That's the "Comedy & The Tragedy" of it all for ya!
What a palaver, eh, John? There is a saying over here "There's nowt so strange as folk" and I'm sure you have a similar one.Why can't people just "get on" ( that's sweet comming from Northern Ireland) And I usually say it about local stuff. Is this site not meant to be a bit of fun? Now, I can cuss with the best (worst?) of them, but don't see why I should bring myself or the site down to that level. I've seen a few iffy galleries but who cares. I guess some folk think they have to have drama 'cause they're "artistic" At the end of the day "what difference does it make?" (The Departed) and as old Hank said We'll never get out of this world alive.... Hey John, I haven't got a Hank in my gallery.. Time to get back to what we do best....enjoying ourselves!!
looking forward - loved ol' Hank - Leon Russell did a good one - musical not visual of course - but he Did dress in fringe & glitter for a photo or two - shot as if from backstage - 'Hank's .... Back' I think he called it
I must thank you for the education you so freely give, Never heard of L.Russell over here, but by google, I at least know a little( same applies to J.Cougar) Learning, learning all the time!!!
if you like 'Hank style' you'd like Leon's version - if not for The Google Idea, we'd many of us be deeper in the dark - me, I'm down to a couple of candlepower
Just another Song sung blue or as Leon playing Hank would say: "Tomorrow morning's Sunday, I know I'll be feelin' low, so pleeease Mr. Bartender, I need a six-pack to go.
Not bad , but Hank can beat that with;;;;"You'll see many just like me, along life's busy street"
"With shoulders stooped and heads bowed down, and eyes that stare in defeat"
And there is more ,much more in the same vain. Thing is, I love it all
Well ... probably is ... just becomes fatal when mixed with pharmaceuticals -- it's genuinely freaky here how pervasive that industry has become -- with mood boosters and smoking-busters that "may cause thoughts of suicide in children and young adults." They're trillion $ corps. with billion $ ad budgets.
Like that here too John, to a lesser degree. But you can't help but think the doc. is giving you drugs from the company that gave him the best freebies. Anyhow we older folk don't need any suicide encouragement, we look at situations like that and have to stop thinking 'bout them and soldier on. I'm off cigarettes now for 7+ months without any chemical help. (Though some days I would wilfully murder for one) But so far so good
Of course they do! Free samples PLUS knock out gorgeous, loose lipped female reps who pedal the goods in more ways than one. Congratulations! I'm ordering the "e-cigarette."
Congratulations for quitting the filthy weed ... unless you wanted to murder someone like Flava Flav or Donald Trump or Joey Buttafucco or Tanya Harding and if you do, give Trump a kick in the ribs for me1 Thanks. That felt good.
Sorry John, when I feel murderous, any victim will do. And once again, the big ocean makes a difference,, I've only heard of Trump from your list of suggestions!!
Well .... 'dunno how lucky you are ... back in the U.S., back in the U.S...." Flava Flav is particularly annoying - a "rapper" who generated the catch phrase: "Heeeeey Boy-EEEEEEEEEEEEE" & Buttafucco was just what he sounds like - a bit of 'trailer trash' & the lover of 'The Long Island Lolita," and Tonya Harding - the ice skater who hired hit-men to cripple her Olympic rival - & ... sorry you have had the misfortune to become acquainted wit the imperious DT upon whose head a small mammal has crawled up and DIED!!
Boy , what a bunch!! You sure this is not a list of "most wanted" serial killers? You have certainly used your mastery of language to make me happy that I don't know these specimens. DT . I do know from "the Apprentice", but that was dropped and we got our own version with our own big bucks man. Still, DT made an impression on me, and I'm so glad I haven't seen him for some time now.
WE must still endure 'The Donald' - I always think 'Duck' when they call him that. With his pompous pompadour (cock)roached up on top like Donald Duck's muttonchops! And yes, with 500 channels of mindless 'news', we must know (unless, as I do, we run screaming from the room) ALL the sordid details. (Where's that (W)retched Smiley? Here he is!
Am I glad I only endured the Duck for a short time.I think I must be lucky, as I see from your script that
"To know, know ,know him"
"Is to loathe, loathe, loathe him"
Part of my twisted little philosophy holds that almost NO humans can survive great wealth and/or great fame w/o becoming 'mad as a hatter,' Trump clearly.... jumped the track ... but with sheer momentum ... still makes money at - whatever it is - $1000 a second - it's part of what's wrong with America! People still watch & want to know - he prospers beyond what whole nations generate - what's wrong with the world? Scientists starve & blowhards -- well --- they blow. I'm over it! - gonna be nice all day now!
Glad you got all that off your chest, John.I agree with every word and would only add power to wealth and fame as the killers of all decency. As in politicians!! Nuff said
