Hey you, heybu, do you know just how lucky you are??? You can paint/colour just as well as you can draw? You are as at home with colour as you are with black and white? I think there are quite a few people here who may envy you - myself amongst them. Well done, this is great.
Thanx Jeanz, I know I'm lucky to have such pleasure when I draw/colour. Some stuff is better than others, but that's life anyhow. I think I prefer pencil, but I change so as not to get bored, it must always be fun. Thanx again
I love drawing but I'd so love be able to paint/colour people ... although I do prefer black and white portrait photography to colour - more artistic. Yeah, you're right ... there's good and better with everything in life. Art isn't always FUN to me, sadly, sometimes it can be pretty frustrating, sometimes I can reach great highs as well - but the finished product always makes it worth it (no matter if it's not as good as the last one - or better than the last one) --- crumbs! - I do go on don't I??? - Every day I pray that they find a cure for verbal diarrhoea, mainly because I always struggle to remember how to spell it. (Hi John, down below - nice reading your comments ... it's nice to have someone agree with me for a change ) Nice meeting you Tom.
Good to hear from you Jeanz, and DO enjoy your art. I long ago learned to stop striving for perfection, and it works for me.I do like your work and look forward to seeing much more
Thanks for your wonderful advice Tom (is it Tom? or is John getting us all sidetracked? ) Oh I had such a frustrating time on my latest creation ... it's definitely not perfect ... I shall submit it anyway 'cause I know on this site no-one boos you (although they sometimes do let you know when your portrait looks nothing like the subject ) Groan ... I can't see much of the subject in my portrait ... but what the heck I did at times really start to enjoy drawing it. bye for now ... thanks again for the wonderful advice and encouragement
Happens sometimes. You start and the portrait is going great, then half-way through you "lose" it. Just happens. If your lucky it can come back. If I get into big trouble I dump it As sometimes you just can not rescue it. Hope it doesn't happen too often for you!! Tom
Hi Tom, ... I rescued this one, but it just doesn't resemble her close enough - parts of it are sheer jeanius others sheer shite ... but what's the use if it doesn't look like the stupid woman ... couldn't she just change her appearance for a while???!!! ... catch you at your next masterpiece Tom
yeah buddy!!! WHAT she said!!! (Jeanz above) I'm green over this fine drawing of Hank and to think it didn't make your cut just proves....well...what She said !!!
Take my word for it John, it looks better in the photo than it really is. Could be ,that reminds me, I think I look worse in photos, but that only lasts 'til I catch myself in a mirror
Oh, so we're being brutally honest. But we're always toughest on ourselves, Tom. How many think Tom looked like a nice guy in the photo with Frankenstein's Daughter - now see - I shouldn't've said that! - no offense to the lovely lady there - just jokin' - And here you can be Peter Cushing if you like - Romy Schnieder - dark or sunny - Nerfertiti, Romeo or Juliet - Dorian Gray - how about one of your Colombo's for you?!
Seriously. That'd be great.
As I mentioned before, I'm pretty useless with computers. I have never been able to send an avatar, it's always too big (more than 50Kb) So I just congratulate myself that I manage to send the art work. I wasn't fishing for compliments, last time, I really do get a shock when I see the man in the mirror, I certainly don't feel like that guy looks!!
Yeah, few images can survive such reduction. Egos suffer too when Methusala and Rumplesliltskin and Father Time look in the mirror. Even if you're not the you're not the heart throb you once were, you're lucky to feel better than you look.
Well, John, Do you like my avatar? As I said, I'm useless, but a great friend on the other side of the world came to my aid. It's great to have folks like that. Makes me feel good ( so long as I avoid those mirrors!)
Cool! Great Avatar! It looks like someone saved your portrait of Peter Falk as a bit map, scaled it down to 50 pixels tall, then saved it as a 42K jpg. I had to learn computers in 2001 when my 'gravy-train' client went down in the great flood. Prior to that, I was primarily a writer and a sketcher of ideas who knew only Microsoft Word. Shahin unknowingly inspired me to experiment further with my own imagery via digital programs and today ..... realize ... I know NOTHING!! I'm glad you found your avatar and think it suits you.
Glad you like it I had asked my son , who's a computer expert (well, compared to me) if he could reduce a portrait for me. He was quiet for a while, deep in thought then in a measured , serious tone he said " It's very difficult." End of conversation. Thank you again John.
You're more than welcome Tom. It took literally one minute. But then, I run Macintosh. In the grand arena of 'computer savvy' I know very little. Have you ever seen anyone who actually WRITES code for these things? They sit there with a blank screen and type like this: ^%$*&$*&**&^^R&^G&(&*T(&^T)*&TO*&^G)*TY*&YTBTV ^T%%*^%RV %B&RT%&RG%*%&RR*V%RR*RF(VRT*&%^TR (^RTVT(^ ^%$*&$*&**&^^R&^G&(&*T(&^T)*&TO*&^G)*TY*&YTBTV ^T%%*^%RV %B&RT%&RG%*%&RR*V%RR*RF(VRT*&%^TR (^RTVT(^ ^%$*&$*&**&^^R&^G&(&*T(&^T)*&TO*&^G)*TY*&YTBTV ^T%%*^%RV %B&RT%&RG%*%&RR*V%RR*RF(VRT*&%^TR (^RTVT(^ ^%$*&$*&**&^^R&^G&(&*T(&^T)*&TO*&^G)*TY*&YTBTV ^T%%*^%RV %B&RT%&RG%*%&RR*V%RR*RF(VRT*&%^TR (^RTVT(^ ^%$*&$*&**&^^R&^G&(&*T(&^T)*&TO*&^G)*TY*&YTBTV ^T%%*^%RV %B&RT%&RG%*%&RR*V%RR*RF(VRT*&%^TR (^RTVT(^
Yeah, sometimes things like that come up on my screen. Then I know I've definately taken a wrong turn somewhere. I've always found it's good to switch off at that point, and try again another day. Works for me
I try to support artists, as you, it's my main purpose on this site, and I have time to do portraits, I can draw only one portrait by week
because it takes me many hours each time
