Paul David Hewson (born May 10, 1960, Dublin, Ireland), nicknamed Bono Vox, stage name Bono, is the lead singer of the Irish rock band, U2. Perhaps the most politically influential artist of his era, Bono's passion for important issues rivals his gift for delivering beautiful vocals. He helped create some of the greatest music of the late 20th Century. With his efforts on behalf of the continent of Africa, Bono brought light to the suffering of millions and helped encourage powerful people to take far more action than they otherwise would have.
