(Born Dec. 04, 1921) Deanna Durbin was a popular young singer and actress in Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s. She is perhaps best known for her precocious and remarkable singing voice. She was described as Hollywood's first "teen idol," and her success spawned numerous imitations (Kathryn Grayson, Jane Powell, Gloria Jean), none of whom were to match her amazing (if relatively short-lived) popularity.
