(Sept. 30, 1947 - Sept. 16, 1977) Marc Bolan was a singer, songwriter and guitarist for Tyrannosaurus Rex (later called T. Rex), from 1967 until his untimely death in 1977. Bolan, along with producer Tony Visconti, largely invented the style that would become glam rock. At the height of Bolan's popularity, he was reportedly selling 100,000 records a day.
