(Apr. 02, 1928 - Mar. 02, 1991) Serge Gainsbourg, born Lucien Ginzburg was a poet, singer-songwriter, actor and director. His early songs were influenced by Boris Vian. Gainsbourg wanted to free himself from what he considered "old-fashioned" chanson, and explore other musical grounds, influenced especially by British and American pop. During his career, he wrote the soundtracks for more than 40 movies.
