Etape 1

J’avais commencé mon dessin en faisant un croquis détaillé avec un crayon H donc les principales mèches étaient déjà en place. Ici, j’ai travaillé à partir d’une copie de mon croquis initial.

I started my drawing by making a detailed sketch with an H pencil, so the main locks were already in place. Here, I worked with a print of my initial sketch.

Etape 2

Dans cette étape, je place les traits les plus foncés avec un crayon 4B, en suivant la forme des mèches dessinées dans l’étape 1.

In this step, I place the darkest pencil strokes with a 4B pencil, following the shape of the locks drawn in Step 1.

Etape 3

Je finis d’appliquer le 4B avec une mine bien taillée. En utilisant de la Blu-Tack, je crée des petits espaces blancs pour les petites mèches qui sont devant son oreille.

I finish applying the 4B pencil with a sharpened lead. Using Blu-Tack, I make little white spaces for the hair located in front of her ear.

Etape 4

Avec un crayon B, je continue à dessiner les mèches, toujours en suivant la forme des mèches dessinées précédemment, dans la partie supérieure de ses cheveux et dans la tresse. Je commence aussi à ajouter la racine de ses cheveux sur sa tempe. J’ajoute aussi les cheveux qu’on voit en dessous de son oreille mais dans le vrai dessin, ça avait été fait seulement après avoir appliqué le graphite sur son cou.

With a B pencil, I keep on drawing the locks, still following the shape previously drawn both in the upper part of her hair and in the braid. I also start adding the roots of her hair on her temple. I’ve also added the hair below her ear but in the actual drawing, it was done only after applying the graphite on her neck.

Etape 5

Tout ce qui reste des cheveux sera dessiné avec un crayon HB alors dans cette étape, je dessine les parties « les plus foncées ». Je finis aussi de dessiner la racine des cheveux et les petites mèches devant son oreille.

All that’s left of the hair will be made with an HB pencil so in this step, I drew the “darkest” parts. I also finished drawing the roots of the hair and the little locks in front of her ear.

Etape 6

Je finis d’appliquer le HB, accentuant les nuances dans la partie supérieure de ses cheveux là où c’est nécessaire.

I finished applying the HB pencil, darkening the top part of her hair where needed.

Etape 7

Using Blu-Tack, I created some highlights in the braid where needed. In order for the hairdo not to look “too perfect”, I added some wisps of hair just above where the braid starts (at the level of her ear) and also a few strands of hair getting out of the braid.
