What is the goal of this website ?
This website is a gallery which exhibits thousands of celebrities portraits, created by professional and amateur artists from the all over the world. We are trying to gather here all kinds of art, from traditional drawing, painting to digital artworks. It is useful for artists to show their portraits to a very large audience, and for visitors who can consult their favorite celebrity portraits. Artists can submit their creations and the other members can comment the portraits.How does this website work, is it totally free ?
Yes, this site is 100% free. Visitors can view all the portraits for free, and artists can subscribe and submit as many portraits as they want for free.What is the status of this website and when has it been created ?
The development of this website started in 2005. It is online since the 23rd of april 2006. The webmistress’s name is Camille Le Roux. You will learn more by reading the legal information.I would like to receive by email the new portraits, how can I subscribe to the newsletter ?

They are amateur and professionnal artists from all over the world. They decided to join and exhibit their portraits for free on this website. To see the gallery of an artist, just click on his nickname. To get more information about the artists, you can either visit their website if any, or contact them thanks to a form on their member’s page.Can I buy any portrait ? How can I contact a member ?
You can't sell or buy any portrait on this website for the moment. However, you can contact the artists directly if you’re interested in purchasing a portrait. You can use the contact form available on each member’s page. This form will send an email to the artist, with your message and your email so that he can directly answer to you.What will be the future developments on the website ?
A forum, some polls, a Contest section. A lot of technical and fonctional updates (design, site translation in many languages, wallpapers, skin customization, RSS feeds...) are also planned for the very near future.What about the copyright ?
All the drawings displayed on this website belong to their authors and are protected by the intellectual property law. It is stricly forbidden to use or modify the pictures to display them on your own page. You can read more about this by having a look at our copyright and intellectual property section.How can I perform a search ?
Please enter your keywords in the box available at the top of every page, and click 'OK'. You can also use this advanced search form to perform a more specific search taking into account the type of portrait, the type of celebrity, or the nickname of the author.The information about my favorite celebrity are empty or erroneous, what can I do ?

It contains a lot of drawing lessons, drawing and painting tips and advices, step by step explanations to understand all the steps of the portrait creation. Not yet, but a wallpaper section is planned.What is the chat service, how can I use it ?
The chat is a new functionality, recently added to the site, following the suggestions of several Stars-Portraits members.It is only available for the registered members, you need to become a member and be logged, to be able to use it. On the bottom right side of the site, you will see a horizontal bar. You can click on the first icon of this bar, to expand the chat box.
Enter your username in the "Nickname" field, then type your instant messages in the "Content" field. The messages will be sent instantly to all the connected members. You can continue to navigate on the site, the chat window will keep your nickname and the current conversations won't be stopped.
If you want to, you can move the chat window, and also open it in a new window to have more room for the conversation.
To deactivate the chat, and remove the horizontal bar of your screen, you need to access your member area and uncheck the related box in the section "My Profile > Preferences". You can recheck the box at any time.
We hope that this new service will be successful and used by many of you. We are still waiting for a forum to be put in place (we are looking for volunteers to be moderators on the forum ! No moderators, no forum !).

Fame :) StarsPortraits is THE reference website for celebrities portraits. Your art will be seen by thousands of visitors per months. You will get comments on your portraits. And everything is totally free ! Moreover, the visitors will be able to contact you if they want to buy one of your artwork.I want to submit my portraits, how can I become a member ?
You can use our subscription form. You just have to choose a nickname and password, and your email address. The subscription is totally free and you can submit as many portraits as you want.Once you’re subscribed, don’t forget to fill in your profile information.
How can I submit the pictures ?
Once you’re subscribed, you can submit your portraits thanks to the submission form on your member’s area. Be careful, we only accept celebrities portraits. You have to enter the name of the related celebrity. You can also add an optional comment about this portrait, you can specify the technique (pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, oil, acrylics, digital, vectors...) and the keywords which describe the image for people who are searching. In the special case of several celebrities on the same portrait, please enter the names separated by commas. If you need help for submitting portraits, just click on the « Need help ? » link to read the help section.What kind of portraits do you accept ?
We accept any kind of portrait if it’s a celebrity portrait, if it's a good quality picture, and if it’s not a photograph. It can be a drawing, a painting, a digital artwork, a sculpture or any other kind of art (except photo). It can be a face portrait or a body portrait, it can also be several celebrities on the same picture. Of course we also accept caricatures.We accept any kind of celebrities such as actors and actresses, music stars, bands, athletes, politicians, television stars, fashion models, humorists, famous people.
However, we will systematically refuse any portrait with are not compliant with our policy : obscene, offensive, blasphemous, pornographic, unlawful, threatening, menacing, abusive, harmful, an invasion of privacy or publicity rights, defamatory, libelous, vulgar, illegal or otherwise objectionable.
What is the required format for the submissions ?
Your pictures must be JPG, PNG or GIF files. They should be less than 7 Mb. If your pictures are too large or are in a wrong format, you can resize them with your favorite image software, for example Photoshop, ACDSee, Paint, Gimp or Irfan View which is a freeware.Are the portraits approved by an administrator ?
Yes, we manually verify every portrait submitted before they’re actually displayed in the gallery. When you submit a portrait, it won’t be added to the site in « real time », but you’ll have to wait several hours (3 days maximum) before your portrait appear in the gallery.Of course the undesirable pictures will be systematically removed and, in case of abusive behavior, the concerned member will be banned.
We reserve the right to delete any picture for any reason, without notice, particularly in case of offensive or inappropriate content, or bad quality.
What is the required level to submit portraits ?
Every level are appreciated and we are inviting any artist of any age to become a StarsPortraits member ! However, in order to keep a quality gallery, we require a minimum level, and we reserve the right to delete any picture with a too low quality. Please pay attention to the way you scan or photograph your artworks; the pictures too dark, too small or too blurry will hardly be validated. Nevertheless, however you are a beginner, amateur, expert or professionnal, don’t hesitate to subscribe now and submit your portraits.One of my portraits has disappeared. Why ?
We reserve the right to delete any picture for any reason, without notice, particularly in case of offensive or inappropriate content, or bad quality portrait, or in case of too blurry, too small, or too dark picture. Please refer to above questions.Do I still own the copyrights of my artworks ?
Of course, a copyright mention is displayed on each portrait page. You are the only owner of your pictures, as described by intellectual property law. Here is more information about copyright and intellectual property..How can I modify or remove a portrait from my gallery ?
Once you’re logged into your member’s area, you can click on "My gallery" tab. To modify a portrait, click on the
icon and enter the new information of the portrait (technique, description, keywords) and click on the "Submit" button.
For security reasons, it’s not possible to modify directly the name of the celebrity of a portrait.To remove a portrait, click on the
icon and validate your choice by clicking on "OK".How can I modify my profile information ?
Once you’re logged into your member’s area, you can click on the "My profile" tab, and on the link "Modify my profile". Here you’ll be able to choose a new avatar, modify your password, and all your personal information : e-mail, website, favorite technique, country, birthdate, and your personal message. Then you have to click on the "Submit" button.The "My settings" link is useful for customization of several parameters, such as your newsletter subscription, the confirmation email preferences, etc.
What’s the "Statistics" section on my member’s area for ?
Once you’re logged into your member’s area, you can have a look at the statistics of your gallery thanks to the « Statistics » tab. This section will tell you which portrait of your gallery is the most seen, or the one with the highest number of comments. A summary table displays, for each portrait of your gallery, its submission date, the number of hits, and the number of comments. You can sort the rows by clicking on each column title.How can I remove my account ?
If you want delete your account for any reason, please contact us and we will remove your account and all the pictures you have submitted.How is the portrait of the day choosen ?
The portrait of the day is picked randomly amongst all the best portraits...Can you ban a member ?
Yes, we can ban a member if he doesn't respect the StarsPortraits policy, for example if he posts any inappropriate images or comments, or if he is not the author of the pictures in his gallery. A banned user can't post any new portraits.I'm a webmaster or a developper...
I would like to display some of the pictures on my blog or webpage. Do I have the right to do it ? Are you providing an RSS feed ?
No, you can't use any of the artworks and images of this website, these pictures are protected by intellectual property code. If you want to use the portraits, the only way is to contact the artists directly, to ask the permission. A contact form is available on the member's page of each artist.We are planning to open a RSS service in the next few monthes, so that the webmasters can display on their websites the day portrait and the recently added portraits. If you want to be notified when this service will be online, don't forget to register to our newsletter.
I would like to affiliate my website / make a links exchange ?
We engage in free link exchange with quality websites. We will only accept art or celebrities related websites : drawing, painting, digital art, or celebrities websites. Please contact us and send us your logo or button (88x31 pixels). We will then decide if your website is compliant with our policy and your logo will be added on our links page, after you have added our link on your website. Sure, we have a dedicated space called 'Affiliates' on each celebrity page. There, we display any fansites or official sites about each star. Please add our link or button on your site, and send us a message when it's done.
