The main thing is from now on if you see any more like this it is a copy of yours as I have done and original pose and sketch it is not a copy of a paint but a completely new work just for you. There are a few lighting mistake in the face I will put it right on the painting but the painting is 50% better than the picture you see more detailed and clearer. I did it from more than one photo using the lighting of one and the pose of another to get the originality I have a knack from god which is a good memory I can look at a photo and keep the image inn my mind whilst painting I developed this I was not born with it. I would draw say an apple from memory then compare and do it until perfect copies were left drawn. I can perfectly draw ant photo that is in front of me but they bore me then because although perfect they have no soul so I try to get the feeling more than the perfection that is why I pursue the memory thing as our minds tend to be quicker than our eyes. Brian   :8)

I cannot retain a memory of what I have seen, in my mind, such as you do. That would be a wonderful gift. I am not that original. To draw my portraits, I use a lighbox to make an outline of a face. After that, it is up to me, to fill in the details. BTW, just curious. Are you right-handed or left-handed. I am a leftie.

Each to their own way of drawing I block out in colour even for drawing this is where you section a photo up it to different zones and block colours in to make the out line it's difficult to learn but once learnt it makes memory drawing easier and also I draw with pencils that dissolve when paint is added I also use paint to draw with and have fooled different people with painting that they think is a pencil sketch. The most important thing in all drawing or painting is to get the feelings or emotions right I teach this to youngsters. Also I'm a great believer in light and dark and playing with peoples imaginations. I'm right handed mainly but I can write with either hand and play sports with bats left handed and I was a left back in football but i use my right hand to throw things. con.

My one son can do everything with both hands, he's a pain at table tennis because he plays me left handed or with two bats and beats me. A left handed person is always a good drawer as they use the left side of their brain. I have taught myself to mediate and relax and enter a sleep like stat when drawing I get my best work like this it is difficult but I'm getting good at it now. Brian, My nicknames brainfree  sorry pressed the wrong thing

That is really interesting, Brian. As for being right-handed or left-handed, I suppose my left is the dominent one, because I use it to write, draw, and eat. But when I played softball, I pitched right-handed, batted right-handed. I swing a golf club right-handed, knit, crochet and do a few other things with that hand. I also mirrow-write, but I do that left-handed.

     ... There are no such thing as accidents in life - I was obviously meant to get something out of your message to Jojo (as I call the lovely lady) ... Strangely enough I also picked up last night on "The Weakest Link" (of all places) that left-handers are supposed to be very artistic. My son's left-handed and he loved art at school - he's never dabbled at it at home though. I have to laugh at your nickname as mine's "jeanius" - how opposite can you get???
