Hello J! (I know it's a late reply... ) I also think that a REAL artist would give his sincere opinions (even if the truth isn't always nice) and not be (so) afraid to do so. However, it's very nice when people seem to SINCERELY like one's little creations. I mean, who wouldn't be glad about that?!

Hi Steff! I've only known two real ones. I think something happens to your brain when everything you do starts selling immediately and for huge sums! Andy Warhol was very tolerant and said, 'there's no such thing as bad art.' The ones I knew were not so kind. There are many people here with lots of talent and good, discriminating taste. I'm sure everyone judges work and likes or dislikes it based on very different criteria. Some make allowances based on age, intent, style and many other factors. Some are humble, some are egotistical. Some wouldn't know good if it bit them & drew blood! In spite of all my jokes and my relatively limited understanding, if I say I like it, I'm being just as serious as a heart attack!

Yeaaah....... waaaaaay over the heads. In my experience, NOTHING works for those worst case scenarios. I've seen some pretty direct approaches fail: "Hey! This is about YOU! You're the one! You suck!!" I always just ignore them! But... thanks & Glad I could get this off at least one chest other than my own.
