Thank you, my Grandmother brought the technique with her from Romania in 1903 when she came to the US. She passed it onto me as a family herritage.

 wimpy3 - 28/06/07 à 23:28 répondre
I hope you can pass it on to the next generation!

 Rose - 29/06/07 à 02:58 répondre
I have been passing it onto my daughters. Thanks again, your work with acrylics is also totally amazing, each of your works reveals the spirit behind it also, I hope you also can pass your technique onto your generations following you.

Great work and great talent! A very difficult and fantastic technique! Really amazing. But the name of this man is not "Sitting Bull"?

 Rose - 25/11/07 à 19:16 répondre
Thank You, You Are Right About The Name, His Name Is Sitting Bear, He Was A Famous Arakawa Chief (not sure about the spelling on the tribal name) He took over 300 hours to complete.

This is my favorite Rose. I think it's the subject and the symmetry. In another place and time, you could have traded this for Manhattan Island.

 Rose - 01/06/08 à 04:20 répondre
That sounds like a great barter to me, thanks for the compliment. This one is 22 1/2" x 19 1/2" and has over 300 hours of labor in its creation.

Fascinating! Wonderful work, Rose. I see that you are interested in our Native Americans (Indians) of times past, also. They have always interested me. I live in Oklahoma and there are quite a few Indians in this state, but they do not live on Reservations in our state. They like just like the rest of us, where ever they want. I have only made one drawing of an Indian chief, so far. My portrait is of American Horse, a chief of the Oglala Lakota (Siox) Indians.

 Rose - 14/11/09 à 17:30 répondre
Thank You Very Much. I Can't Help Being Interested in Native Americans, I Married One and MY daughter Is Half, She Is Related To One of Oklahoma's Famous Native Americans, Jim Thorpe.

 Jojemo - 14/11/09 à 18:51 répondre
Yes my friend, you would have a close tie to Native Americans. I admire the patience it would require to do work such as you do. I read Mari Sandoz's book, CHEYENNE AUTUMN quite a few years ago, and liked it so much, I went out and bought my own copy. Recently, while in Taos, New Mexico, I bought the book, INDIAN SPIRIT, Edited by Michael Oren Fitzgerald and Judith Fitzgerald. I plan to draw some more chief's that are featured in this book.

 Rose - 16/11/09 à 00:55 répondre
Good For You. I plan On Doing Mosaic Works of Several More Native American, but They Take A Long Time to Complete, Each Mosaic Takes a Minium of Three Weeks. :hi:

 Jojemo - 16/11/09 à 07:30 répondre
I would think that it would take even longer than two weeks to create a portrait like that, with such tiny stones. It would be tricky to get the right colors in the right places, too. You do good work, in an unusual form of art.

 Rose - 16/11/09 à 17:50 répondre
The mosaic that are 19" X 13" take about three weeks, the larger ones like "Achilles" took close to Three months. It depends on the size of the Art work. Thanks Again. :hi:

 Jojemo - 17/11/09 à 02:17 répondre
Thank you for that information, Rose. I admire your patience, putting those small stones in their proper places. I am afraid I wouldn't get past making one, if I even got that far. But when you are finished, you certainly have something that is more permanent then a drawing upon paper. I have put my oil paints aside for awhile, as I am learning this new hobby of mine. The ultimate, for me at least, would be to paint portraits of people in oils, instead of drawing them with colored and graphite pencils. :) :hi: :blowkiss:

 Rose - 17/11/09 à 06:07 répondre
Your Gallery is So Very Beautiful, I Don't think You Would Have Any Problems Doing Portraits in oils, You Would Probably Make A Fortune, You Are Very Talented.

 Jojemo - 17/11/09 à 07:12 répondre
Tnank you for your kind praise, Rose. I appreciate it. My husband has told me that I can't paint or draw things to sell them, because he doesn['t want me to raise our income tax bracket. Also, ii I were to turn my hobby of drawing or painting into a business, I probably wouldn't have so much fun doing it. May I ask you something kind of personal? I am confused as to whether you are a man or a woman. The name "Rose" is usually associated with a female, but your Zodiac symbol is for a male. Joyce

 Rose - 18/11/09 à 03:02 répondre
If you are worried about a different tax bracket you can always barter. I am a man, Scott Rose, alot of people do think I am female with the name Rose, but it is a masculin name too, The War of the Roses. I think as long as you enjoy your art, that is the main thing. It starts becomming a job and not much fun when you are doing it for a livelyhood. I think when I am doing something for myself it always seems to come out better than when I am doing a commission for someone. You can always do art work and give them for Christmas presents, people love to receive original art under the tree.

 Jojemo - 18/11/09 à 16:29 répondre
Good advice, Scott. Thank you so much.
