Aquarelle

A watercolour of the classic scene in the Film Marathon Man 1976 with Dustin Hoffman where Lord Laurence Olivier plays the part of Dr. Christian Szell the brother of a Nazi War criminal. He the Dr Szell unable to extract anything from Babe Dustin Hoffman, he proceeds to drill into one of Babe's healthy teeth. I Love truly scary Films and ones that make good paintings This painting is 18" X 24" I have cut it down to keep the important parts.

Thank you, for me the subtle way it handles a horrifying scene is better then the blood soaked violence of scenes today.   :) :8) :magic:

Thanks for the explanation, I am Welsh and we have little sayings which although started in the Welsh language now are used the same in English. We use the persons occupational to simplify the number of people with the same name. I have 5 fiends called David Davies so years ago they would be Davies the butcher Davies the post and so on. Also not to be boring my family name years ago was Davies so the word apt was put in the name of the son So my grand father was David Davies My father would be David apt Davies.

Thank you Patrick, I like the clever way the director or writer scared the viewer with a visit to the dentist, I bet it set back dentistry 30 years. Of course I like to make people think about the meaning of scenes in films.   :) :8) :magic:

Thank you, a bigger work for me than normal and a different thing to paint on, canvass rather then paper for me four times the size which is my favourite. It was an bit of a risk being a large work as I have done only about 20 on canvass.   :) :8) :magic:

Thank you, it was a very good Film worth seeing, a very subtle plot. My nephew who is 20 is studying film and drama at University before Christmas 2011 we had a discussion about older films I advise him to see some 50's to 90's film as they were classics in plot and drama, my favourite film is 'On the waterfront' with Marlon Brandon worth seeing.   :) :8) :magic:

Your missing out because with no effects or wonderful photography they like in 'Gone with the wind' burnt a huge town to the ground. Admitted they seem a little staged or like something from another era but they were Great film worth the rental or purchase price I watch it once a year without fail. 40's 1. Citizen Kane - (1941, Orson Welles) (Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Agnes Moorehead) 2. It's a Wonderful Life - (1946, Frank Capra) (James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore) 50's 1. On the Waterfront - (1954, Elia Kazan) (Marlon Brando, Carl Malden, Rod Steiger) 2. 12 Angry Men - (1957, Sidney Lumet) (Henry Fonda, E.G. Marshall) 60's 1. Psycho - (1960, Alfred Hitchcock) (Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh) 2. To Kill a Mockingbird - (1962, Robert Mulligan) (Gregory Peck, Mary Badham) 70's 1. The Godfather - (1972, Francis Ford Coppola) (Marlon Brando, Al Pacino) 2. The Deer Hunter - (1978, Michael Cimino) (Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken) Just 8 good films with good plot and yes a bit of a scare but the best for me is because I'm a science fiction nut Alien - (1979, Ridley Scott) (Tom Skerritt, Sigouney Weaver) brainfree

If fiction or seeing violence made people bad, through seeing the use of these objects. Well lets ban Shakespeare and other things like the TV news and photography. When I was a young person like you I delighted in the seeing many films, then TV started showing films so I have scene many violent films all my life, Yet I have grown up to be a non violent person. Violence has more to do with tribalism and man's nature to Fight or Hunt. 200 years ago film did not exist but violence and knife crime did exist, plus they were more prevalent than now because the lower population. Drugs 200 years ago were legal, it was legal to have a gun or sword to defend your self with did all these people watch films NO. It has been since the dawn of man, that we make excuses for the violent man saying it was the Moon or Anything to excuse man's nature nobody wants to be seen as animal like. That's Just me I have never done any crime or violence in my whole life yet I have always thought of other people and the consequence of my actions on them. Were people 200 years ago non violent because they did not read or see films and were not educated no they were far worst.
