Thank you, You are my only visitor to this painting, that makes you special. I think this guy is so funny and although now he's wealthy he has come from an ordinary background. Many of the stories he tells about his father in the tenement flats of his home town are true. I have done other portraits of him but was really pleased with this one I was a bit sad when a portrait of young pop singer is my highest viewed so if you want something or If I have any techniques or advise you what just ask. I love the piece from his world tour that I got this from. Sorry to be such a wind bag. Brian Brainfree
Thank you, A very early work, OK but what would a new one look like. This is good it like UK coner I love this site it's Wonderful I have no idea how talent people were, I lived in my little world thinking, I was the only one how like drawing or painting and now I realise there are millions of Us. Do you think they teach art right in school or Art school. I have admiration for anyone trying to learn it for exams, only they teach so poorly, I have taught five people 100 miles away to paint in watercolour and a teacher stood next to someone can't teach, crazy. Never mind I'm of my soap box now.
No I love the expressive technique in this. I love to be able to see the individual brush strokes and how it all comes together.
I studied Design at College for four years and was extremely dissapointed that in that time only 6months were allocated to a life drawing class which lasted one hour per week. I think not enough encouragement is given to anyone that wants to study art and the majority of lecturers are certainly not the best.
Did anyone ever teach with you, with you looking over their shoulder and explaining about light and shade. One hour a week to teach drawing or painting, you would need to practice for 2 hours per day and work on repetitive exercises and on colour mixing. Not a simple thing only achievable by the extreme few, I want to be one of that few, one day I will. I will paint until I’m nearly insane, learning all the time from studying others and making mistakes. OK not quite that far, but nearly. Passion it’s what drives me. Sad really. I’m retired and have the time.
Excellent, us Dads are great, He should show his work on this site I had to redo all of my work in A4 for here but it builds up I have work going back 20 t0 30 years, not as good as now! but still I was a better drawer then. Teaching can be very rewarding. I always help with advise to any one who wants it. I have a great collection of techniques, skills and little ways to make things easier, and because I drew, painted (in all mediums) and even sculpted in a small way, I’m quite knowledgeable about art mind I’m not blinkered and like all art.
