My latest portrait of Jason Mraz on black Bristol paper, before and after reworking. I will put the update in place of the original version.
Mon dernier portrait de Jason Mraz sur papier bristol noir, avant et après l'avoir retravaillé. Je vais remplacer la version d'origine par sa mise à jour.
Well, I went to an art shop. I told the assistant I had black Bristol paper and I wanted to use colour pencils on it because I had seen online an image of someone who had done it. She said I had the wrong paper. I said I wanted to use it anyway, and perhaps it was a matter of using pencils with rich pigments and a soft creamy texture. She said that the pencils I had at home were wrong, that she had the right ones but that they wouldn't work on my paper. Well I bought them anyway, used them with my wrong paper and blended them with my wrong pencils. And now I feel very lucky! Thank you very much Raffaella
Jason Mraz is a man who has outgrown many hard times, freed himself from many self-destructive tendencies and addictions, acquired a lot of widsom and apparently succeed in remaining simple and humble while being famous, he's a very rare person. I tend to think that life is cooler in the shade, and to seek the friendship of rare people with ordinary lives that look more like mine (though I've just found out that I'm autistic and that therefore I'm not the standard human type). I don't look up to stars now as I did when I was young, only to the real astronomical stars. Still there are sounds, mostly, and sometimes even song lyrics that I really like, and Jason Mraz is also one of my favourite singers for both songs and lyrics. Thanks for the link (works fine and the song is as cool as ever) and for the comment, Nev. Cheers.
As so many famous people who appear to have it all under control have everything and struggle ..I have only come into contact with him with his music so your comments open up a newer part of him to me and thank you for sharing so personally the closeness of your self and really ,you come across very human and talented, especially in your art...Yes I think everything changes as we age ,those things we did change and so do the stars who hold perhaps memories of movies and pictures in our minds that we once saw.. and yes I have a telescope that looks skyward occasionally... ..I thought adding the link was great to listen to as I looked back a little at your gallery...added a little extra dimension so to speak.. any ways you are for me and it is great to have you for the time to exchange and interact in our art and thoughts..so yes Cheers Vanessa and catch you shortly.. (Glad we both like Jason's music.)

Excellent reworking of the hair and flesh tones, Vanessa.

I did less about the hair than about the skin, but I'm glad that you noticed both, thank you very much Mike

You’re so good at capturing the expressions in your art
As you are too! Thank you very much dear Yukiko!

Funny that all the smileys were gone from my above comment…
You’re welcome anyway

Oups!
