bacsic rules of drawing and painting for every one is the same. you have to be patient and work on details. though in digital programs work is more easy!

At some points I agree, but I don't think, that you should be patient and in love with details in general. Neither in drawing/painting portraits nor in other styles. It always depends on what you want to express...

you are right. some drawings have a few lines but they are a real Wow.
