Thank you, I love this piece it was a first effort at drawing and painting from a film clip. The Film was 'Solent green' with him and Charlton Heston starring.
Thank youy woith a beard myself I have a ready made model and as I have had a beard for 40 years I have seen and painted mine in all colours fron spring, summer and finally autumn and winter, I find payne's grey then black and finally white is the key so the grey builds up.
Self deprecating is a British thing, when I was young I new I would not be tall dark and handsome, but I ended up as short, blond and well built, (not fat like now) but more muscular man. I played football or soccer, in American but was more Rugby shape. I was always not very shy and had many girlfriend or even friends who were girls. I was born into a generation of men being men but I did not like that world, women are more than equal than men, My Wife is wonderful, she is a saint to put up with me. Because when I was young I was a bit of a lad, smoking, drinking and burning the candle at both ends it gave me a horrible legacy of ill health, Now I have a bad heart condition this has been for many years, so I became someone who painted. I love life and burning the candle was worth it, the smoking and drinking was not. Have fun in life it goes so quickly and keep healthy.
We make what we are through are habits, poor or good. And age has a great reflect on that. Mostly,health wise. But you change or g your health gets worst. I've never been the athletic one and always been in an introvert when i was younger. My health is not so perfect. Since moving up north. I have many respiratory problems. Art became my existence through my life.I'm glad I discovered it at an early age. It helped through tragic times as well the good.
