Beautiful work brainfree. I love your technique - it creates a very unique style while maintaining the celebs ressemblance.

Thank you, I've two main styles one very formal and with the other I like to experiment with colour and pose. Both styles are very impressionist. The secret is that I do very little drawing I tend to paint a light wash under the final paint layer. With this wash I drawing onto it with watercolour pencils/ crayons. All my planning is done from studying photo's and making a judgement as to what I paint.

Great! Now, you have to tell me how you work regarding time table... How can you post so much drawings on the same day and so regularly?? maybe you already answer me one day. If so, I'm sorry for asking again but it's just that it's amazing!! How many time just for one of them?

 brainfree - 01/05/08 à 08:11 répondre
This painting took about 45mins to 1hr, some take less time, some take more the very large face paintings are quicker. The full head and shoulders take longer. I sleep very poorly and mostly start at 6am that's GMT, then each day I paint for about 8hrs. In the last week I have had 2 days where I have painted for 12hrs on and off. For example I painted all the Matrix painting’s together 1hr, same look, same paint and the same brushes. The drawings for each painting are not full drawings but just paint guides.

Wow! It is a really huge passion you have then. That's great to be able to do exactly what you want when you want^^

Thank you, why when I paint very quickly do they come out better.: I have the time at a cost, I have a heart problem. Although I've only painted with watercolour for about 10 months. I painted with poster paint for 20 years and drew for 50 years. So I hope I'm getting a little better now. Time is relative I hope I can help others and learn myself. Thank you for your interest I'm lucky I can afford to follow my passion.

Oh, OK. Well, let's say, like some are used to "in every shadow there's a light" So anyway you can enjoy painting and drawing. I'm glad to know this site and being able to share with other drawers, even if, in fact, THEY are the only ones who help me. I cannot help anybody since I have a huge need for learning to improve. I know I have to practise a lot too but I have some difficulties to go back to my sheets and pencils this time. I'd like to but I'm too impatient to wait for having finished one drawing and maybe discover it's not as good as I would have want it to be! No, I'm not a complicated girl!! Anyway, many thanks for your comments and for always answering my questions and comments. I really appreciate this I think I'm going to draw again soon...

I love it - it's a bit depressing...just like me. :)

 brainfree - 22/06/08 à 19:37 répondre
Thank you, don't tell me that or I'll have to paint only happy faces. I’ll tell you my story, then you won't feel so depressed. I'm happy all the time now, because until six months ago, I had Cataracts in both eyes and 25% vision. Then I had an operation and I could return to painting, I was so happy to see My wife, birds in trees and flowers. I'm blessed every day of my life, even though I have a heart problem and have to take it easy. I sleep only 4 hours a night with pain. So after I started painting again, it released me from the pain. So god answered my call. I know it’s easy to say but paint more and forget about the fleeting problems of life aged 23. I lived for 61 years happy no matter what life's brought, I help others and my kindness is returned to me. I’m turning into a saint now! Joke. :D  :)

 nihrida - 22/06/08 à 20:29 répondre
I can only hope to deal with what life will bring me as you do. It's been 4 years since the doctors found out that I'm depressed. It's been hard, but I'm taking my medicine - there will be time to die...but never again will there be time to live. It's a blessing to have a chance to look at art like yours. Your work and words give me comfort. Thanks! I hope your health won't fail on you for another 61 years! :)

 brainfree - 22/06/08 à 21:38 répondre

Thank you, I'm a fanatic for art drawing and painting. I have been for 55 years. We improve as we get older, not just with technique but also with being able to see things differently. I paint many people no matter, if I like them or not. Saying that I have such wide tastes from Hip hop to classical music or from the 'Sound of Music' to 'Sin City' Film, I'll painting anyone. I enjoy this painting because of a comment about how I could draw without a pencil, so it's' all done with a Japanese brush. I like the M&M mono tone you've done, I would like to give you a little secret about painting, I always leave a little mystery. Sometimes a blob as an eye is thought to be so marvellous. :) :ok:

Thank you, it's funny but I can see so many faults I will have to advise my self and tell me to buck my ideas up such poor finishing. I'm glad you like it. :8)
