A Mars Lumograph is a pencil that is really black, and good for using contrast. To give you an idea what to look for, this place sells them: www.greatart.co.uk/STAEDTLER%20MARS%20LUMOGRAPH%20100-lead-pencils-drawing.htm I use them in 8B
