Great job...perfect likeness, nice color choices, great all around. I don't even think you need the canvas texture, I think it almost makes it a little gimmicky.
The texture is an attempted (may be futile!) to show under painting and spontaneous oil brush strokes above it. something we can find in unfinished oil paintings.
Well, I would never question your incredible technique, but I think if you wanted that, you would just have strokes of, say, sepia or something showing underneath the color. I think the problem is that the texture is only showing in places, rather than all over, which is what gives it a more digital feel than traditional (assuming you were shooting for traditional). Again, though, incredible technique and subtlety.
Ok, but I gave texture to some places and not the entire work to imitate the thin and thick (impasto) colors in various places. Texture is obvious under thin colors and it is undetectable under thick colors. May be it is a bit clumsy idea! any way, I am experimenting!
