Thank you, Don't get me going again about W/c with the right experience and techniques anyone can paint with those difficult old W/c paints. I’m not special and that tells me that anyone can paint with them. If we were to talk about my skill of likeness or choice of subjects I would be very happy as they have taken me 50 years to master. Watercolour is new to me about a year before then I would have agreed with you. For years I used Pencil, pastel, poster paint, acrylic paint, sculpted, and made craft things. I’ve never been beaten with any skill I can learn anything even now! It’s all rubbish put out by the I can't do anything brigade. Dogs Can learn new tricks. Everything is possible YOU can do any thing you want to do, It’s just hard work, practice and opening your mind. I think I could write a book on motivation if I wanted to.
Sorry another long answer.
Thank you, I'm going to let you in on a secret, I forgot to paint over the light purple bit in the top left hand corner. I painted an under wash under black or dark colours to show shine. Sometimes on the hair, here it was blue, on the neck it was grey. So you have to think not about the first colour, but the finished colour, Generally the Under wash is done with Acrylic paint so it doesn't moved once dry.
Thank you, I like your work space it's very similar to mine. The only difference is I have a easel. This means I can see both subject and monitor along side each other.
Thank you, first I don't draw with a pencil, I draw either washes at first or with a brush Japanese style if I do used a pencil it’s always a watercolour pencil and not necessarily the right colour. I've done the art thing for 50 years so it's practice, perseverance and patience.
Thank you, It's a W/c painting, although I see nothing wrong with digital paintings, but I need no short cuts. The only photograph used was the two, I looked at to paint onto paper. I know you meant it as a complement, but I hope it has something photo's don't have inner soul.
ya, I know it is!
I really ment it like a compliment, to say that it looks real
I have nothing against digital too but I prefer hand-portraits
sorry if I didn't use the right words, what I ment to say is that it looks amazing, actually real, like if it was Jessica Alba in front of me
Remember practice, patience and perseverance. Looking at your work it woun't take that long. One day you will just click and it will becomes easier. I a dope like me can do it anyone can! FUN, fun, fun.
This one is very intense It has beautiful form. Have you tried sculpture you may like doing a head in clay. I did a head foot and hand. Never got to do a full figure but I did a nude in soap. Wow what fun that was. I baked it in the oven whow what a stink!!!!!
Thank you, hair done by pushing paint back on it's self you can do it with a pencil push the line back like a judder ( shake) it makes great hair effects also take two pencils tape together and use together to draw hair, turn the two and they spiral and if you use slightly different B ratings say B 2 and B 6 they can look incredible.
